“Delighted!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

This hotel was an absolute delight to stay at. From the very minute we showed up to park to the last day before departing, we were greeted by the exceptional staff with a friendly and welcoming demeanor. The hotel was a step into history due to the beautiful home itself but it continued its charming appeal with the amenities that were provided. It was a true Southern Comfort Vacation for me and my sister. We stayed in one of the double queen bed rooms so we had plenty of space for our girls weekend! The amenities provided were exceptional and allowed for an addition to our already exciting weekend. We met several new people and thoroughly enjoyed the court yard. We will definitely recommend this House to anyone who asks.

Friends and I were near Savannah for a business trip. We took a weekend in Savannah and stayed at the Eliza Thompson. The staff are absolutely delightful, warm, friendly and the property is charming. Lovely spacious rooms, quaint courtyard - I'd absolutely go back and recommend staying there for anyone - it is on the most beautiful street and there's a delightful little home decor place just around the corner.

Room Tip: We stayed in the carriage house and it was delightful. Take advantage of the wine & appetizers t...

My mother, sister, and I stayed here in mid-June for 2 nights. We spent a great deal of time researching hotels in the historic district before settling on the Eliza Thompson house. We were looking for a place with a little southern charm, spacious rooms, and public gathering areas. This fit the bill perfectly in every way. We arrived later than originally planned - it was nearly 7:00pm on Saturday. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly staff. Kevin helped us with our bags, helped me find a parking space - and even guided me in as I had to parallel park in a very tight spot. We assumed we had missed the wine and cheese hour; however, as soon as he had us settled in, he brought out more wine and cheese for us to enjoy, extending the social hour. We were treated like family during our stay, but I never felt like I was staying in someone else's home (that was always my hesitation in staying at a B&B). It was the perfect mix of hospitality and a charming hotel. I really liked the parlor area where the wine and cheese was served - it provided the perfect atmosphere to meet other guests and just socialize. We did not take part in the desert hour as we were downtown both nights. The courtyard is the perfect place to relax in the evening and a nice setting for breakfast. The continental breakfast was very good with a wide selection of hot and cold items. Our room was the first one right off the reception area and was beautiful and spacious. The bathroom was a little small for 3 women, but we made it work. For some reason, the hot water took a very long time to reach the shower, but once it did, there were no issues. We were able to walk everywhere - although it is nearly a 20 minute walk to River St. The walk did not bother us in the least. Kevin was full of suggestions for places to eat and visit and we were happy with the places we tried. Parking is free over the weekends and then the meters are monitored starting at 8:00 Monday morning, so we went out to put money in the meter only to find out that the meter was taking money, but not dispensing time. The front desk staff called the city and was told we could park there for 2 hours without worrying about a ticket. They must have forgotten to tell the parking attendants, as we got a ticket after only an hour. The woman at the front desk said she would take care of the ticket for us. Overall we had a great stay and every staff member we met was extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place.

My wife and I just returned from a long weekend in Savannah, Ga. We chose to stay at the Eliza Thompson House as our first ever stay at a bed and breakfast based off of the reviews here on TripAdvisor. I must say that our expectations were more than exceeded! The welcome that is given makes you feel as if you are coming back after many visits. The staff immediately jumps into action to ensure that you are comfortable with the layout of the B&B, help you with your luggage and make sure that you are settled. Wine and cheese and dessert is served daily along with the breakfast. The staff does a great job buzzing around the hotel cleaning and yet rarely will you actually see them. On a personal note, Kevin from guest services was amazing! He knew the answer to any question that we had, was very quick to suggest places to go when we did not have plans, and was generally one of the most attentive people that we have ever had the pleasure of of dealing with on vacation! Awesome job! We plan on returning and suggesting this to all our friends and family!

Room Tip: We stayed out in the courtyard area (129). The bathrooms are a little small, but just work in shifts...

We made a last-minute booking at the Eliza Thompson House while on a road trip recently, with the decision made purely on the TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The house itself is gorgeous and the rooms are beautiful and surprisingly large - we were in room 112, on the ground floor, adjacent to the front stairs, and it was lovely and large (and despite my initial concerns, we heard no noise from outside at all). The beds in our double room were a delight - so high off the floor we needed small steps to climb in and out of bed, which never failed to amuse me! I was able to view a couple of the other rooms and they were all of the same impeccable standard, beautifully decorated and all equally welcoming. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the cheese & wine and desserts & coffee served in the drawing room every evening quite delicious and a great way to meet some of the other guests, but the clear winner at this B&B is Miss Virginia's breakfast!! I have never had biscuits this good (and my Mother, who bakes the most delicious biscuits herself, agreed). A wonderful stay and I would definitely go back again.

We stayed here for two nights and was impressed by the service we received as soon as we arrived! we parked across the street and the bellboy carried our very heavy cases all the way to our garden room up a flight of stairs. This hotel has a lot of charm and the staff are only too happy to help with any questions you may have about the area. The wine and cheese served in the evening allows you to mix with other guests and have a chat about your day. The breakfast which was served in the beautiful courtyard was delicious. Thank you Eliza Thompson for making our first stay in Savannah so enjoyable!

Room Tip: We stayed in both the garden rooms and the main house. Both were very comfortable, but we enjoyed th...

Stayed only one wonderful night at the Eliza Thompson house while passing through Savannah on route to New Orleans. We loved the old-world charm of this place which made us feel part of Savannah's history. Beautiful and clean rooms, delicious breakfast, and we loved the wine, cheese and desserts served in the drawing room. Special mention to the friendly woman on the front desk and the helpful man who sorted out our parking - this is a place where you will be well looked after.
