Not only is the property located on "the most beautiful street in Savannah," but the staff makes each guest feel welcome. From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by Nell, then shown to your room by Kevin--who is just one of the nicest people you will ever meet--, you know that you are at "home away from home." Close to everything in downtown, the house is perfectly centered to enjoy your time in Savannah.

Room Tip: Loved the room facing the street...

We were headed back to NC from FL, and stayed a night. We normally break the trip up and spend a night in Savannah and try different places. This was one of our best spots, and we've stayed in some good ones in town. If you're looking an Inn feel, with options around town, stay here. Location is great.
We were delighted with their breakfast in the morning, the street as we walked up and down to see decorations, and the evening cordials. The staff are non-obtrusive, and entertain your questions if you have any. But, not pushy. You have your privacy, but have the choice of mingling with others staying at the house if you wish. They have many types of rooms, so call if you're trying to nail down something and can't quite figure it out. It may help because they have many choices and locations.
We really look forward to repeating this stay.

We are driving home from Savannah, and couldn't wait to post our review of this wonderful B & B.
The service was impeccable from all staff members, but we were particularly impressed by our welcoming from Kevin and Nell. No detail was overlooked, and we were never without while staying here.
Our room, which had a private bathroom, was nicely decorated and clean. It was off the courtyard next to the fountain. I couldn't not believe other reviewers here who said the fountain "kept them up" at night--people pay money for machines that make such tranquil sounds!
Breakfast was wonderful every morning, and not your standard Continental breakfast. We particularly enjoyed the egg and salsa casserole one morning, and I loved the grits and fresh yogurt.
In the afternoon, wine, soda and water are provided along with appetizers. To be honest, after eating all day in Savannah, the appetizers were enough for us! We then returned for nightly decaf coffee and desserts. I liked that they didn't just rehash the leftover dessert from the night before.
The location is fantastic. Yes, you will walk a little to get to City Market and River Street, but we loved this location. It's close to Forsyth Park and St. John the Baptist Cathedral, so we were very ok with being away from "downtown."
I cannot imagine returning to Savannah and not staying here-I don't think any other place will live up to such service and accommodations for such a reasonable price!

I stayed here while on a road trip with girlfriends years ago and fell in love with the city and the inn. The staff was so inviting and the place was so charming that we ended up staying an extra two days. I've always wanted to go back so I surprised my husband with a weekend trip there for his birthday. The Eliza Thompson House was just as lovely as I remembered it. I absolutely recommend it. Breakfast is delicious and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Southern hospitality at its best.

The Inn is beautiful and it is located on a lovely tree lined street. The staff is very nice and they are happy to see you arrive at the Inn. They will help you in way possible. We stayed in a room on the courtyard and it was quite and very lovely. The bathroom was a little small but that is what you expect from an Inn so I was not disappointed. We would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I were visiting Savannah for the first time and love to stay at bed and breakfasts. We wanted a historical location with a garden area, that was not located in the hustle bustle of downtown, that had vegetarian options for breakfast and that was not too far from running routes. After narrowing it down to the 3, we chose the Eliza Thompson and we are SO happy that we did.

GOOD POINTS: it was built in 1847 but shows off like a home of 2012, there are ghostly occurrences in the main building, it has vegetarian options for breakfast (the buffet has something for everyone), it is 2 blocks from Forsyth Park, which is a main running park - approximately 1 loop = 1 mile, and it's on a quiet street about 4 squares from the hustle bustle of River Street – meaning you can leave the car and just walk everywhere.

NOT SO GOOD POINT: although not a deal breaker for us, this property is not ideal for those with wheelchairs. Although they do have a couple of first-floor rooms that face the street, getting to the breakfast and garden areas would be challenging.

The staff was attentive, and wanted to please us. Very clean, well located, and easy access to everything in historic area. I actually would stay again. The bed was very comfortable for a king.
Breakfast good as it was complimentary as part of the B&B. They might have wanted to some lower calorie options, low fat yogurts, cereals, fresh fruit. Wine, snacks and deserts at night were great. They were not drawing lines in the sand if you arrived after the end of "happy hour"
