We had a great day on River Street. I thought it was a nice touch to offer a free ferry ride for anyone needing to get accross the river, needing to get to the other end of the street, or simply to enjoy a ride on the river.

The kids bought stuff at the huge candy stores, and we tried on hats at the Mad Hatter. I love the historic nature of the area. The cobblestone roads are awesome, and one of my favorite parts.

Thank John L

It's a great place to visit at least once in your life. I have been there multiple times and it never gets old. St. Patrick's day if off the chain! But on a regular, non-holiday, it is nice to stroll River Street for the shopping and to watch the street performers. There are some very talented performers, especially at night. Broughton Street is great for boutique shopping. It hasn't been over run by big name, mall type, stores. That's the beauty of the Historic District, it is a very hip, artsy type city, which has also managed to preserve its history.

Walk along the water, enjoy the view of the Talmadge Memorial Bridge, see lots of different boats pass. Great shopping, bars, restaurants, visitors center, Elevator located behind visitors center. Lots of tourist in summer months. There is also a free trolley. Parking areas on river street, bay street, or parking garages. Also Parking is FREE on weekends in savannah.

We loved the River Street area. Its a couple miles of nice old historical buildings with all different kinds of shops and restaurants. The street is cobble stone in a lot of places which really adds to the beauty. Being right on the river, it is very scenic. You could sit there there for hours and people watch. This is a must see place when traveling to Savannah. I would highly recommend.
