It was worth the few bucks you learn new things everyday had a great time. If you purchase the trolly package you get the ticket cheap to old house like this one so shop around save a few dollars.

Shamefully, I have lived in the area for almost two decades and never once took the time to visit the Davenport House despite walking past it numerous times and hearing about it. During Christmas, my family and I decided to take the tour. Our guide was young and nervous (public speaking-who wouldn't be?!) but gave a lot of information and was able to answer the many questions not only I, but our young child asked. I'm glad that we took the time to learn about the man who built so many homes in our historic squares and left more informed and wanting to learn more about the history of the city in which I live. If you are interested in history and learning, definitely go visit.

My husband and I enjoyed the visit to Davenport House. We happened to go on Sunday when they were using junior tour guides, in addition to finding the house interesting, it was nice to see so many young people involved with history and showing their interest. Totally enjoyable.

Loved the house, and had a great tour guide with good knowledge of the history of the Davenport House. Nice gift shop as well.

The museum is at the corner of East State and Habersham Streets in Savannah, GA. It is located on Columbia Square in Savannah’s Historic Landmark District. Thank God for people who fight to preserve our history. Savannah was growing and these old houses were being torn down to make parking lots of all things. A group got together and fought to spare this home and succeeded. The tour covers the first floor and some of the second. The Davenport's had 10 children but only 7 survived. This is just one of three historic houses you can visit in Savannah. The Davenport House partners with the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace and the Andrew Low House to offer a discount pass on the three houses. For $21 you purchase a Pioneers in Preservation pass, which does not have a time limit, to visit all three houses.
