Walked in to get info and the lady behind the desk, a young lady with blonde hair, didn't even look up from her computer. I said I was at the bus stop and came in for info, and she said "bus stop is that way." It was obvious her computer game/email was more important than giving me information. So I left.

I didn't know what to expect! However, Its very interesting. Everything is in good condition. They try their best to recreate how it would look like in the 19th century. The guided tour last 30 min. Very good!

Thank Manez

This historic home was very disappointing in the choices they used to replicate the decor of its period. The tour host even had photos of the walls prior to being redone and wallpaper samples of what they did. She asked our group our opinion. It was obvious that it's been an area that they've felt needed to be explained, defended ????. Everyone in our group stated their disapproval. It's poorly done. The wall paper in the foyer is hideous and cheap looking. They need some help from someone on the historic committee.

Thank you for visiting the Davenport House Museum. Please know that the museum is not a decorator house. It is intended to teach history - so the interiors look like they did in the 1820s. Tastes and popular styles of interiors design, clothing, cars go through cycles of what is "in" at particular time. At the Davenport House preservationists seek historical accuracy in the representation of a successful artisan's home of the 1820s.
Our interiors have received awards. However, that will probably not move you to like them. Our aim was not for you to like them but for you to understand them. On both counts we failed and I am sorry.

This tour was ok. The house was beautiful. Lots of good information. Most of the articles in the house are not original. Based more on word of mouth and the time period, and not what was actually in the house originally.

Thank you very much for visiting the Davenport House and writing a positive review.
I need to clarify that the Davenport House's interpretation (the story it tells and what visitors see) is based on an inventory taken at the time of Isaiah Davenport's death in 1827. The house is furnished as it would have been at that time. I regret that information was not conveyed to you when you were at the museum.
Happy Travels!

The architecture in the house is beautiful. Not a lot of original pieces, but they did try to do their best with matching the style of the house with the appropriate time period when the Davenports would have lived there. A neat experience to see the inside of a well restored historical home.
