Thanks Sara. We are glad you enjoyed visiting Telfair Museums.
We arrived at 10 am just as they opened the doors and were able to attend a 45 min tour of the Academy with Jacqui, she was wonderful! She told us the history of the Telfair home and the people who lived there, explained some of the renovations that have been made through the years. The art was good, but I was more interested in the home itself.
Be sure to go to the Owens/Thompson home it is beautifully restored and has many of the original furnishings.
The Jepson Center was good, I enjoyed the Rembrant exhibit, the other exibits were not my taste in art, so it was a quick visit for us.
Thanks for your comments. We are glad that you enjoyed all 3 Telfair Museums!
3 individual venues - 2 near each other and the other just a reasonable walk away. The home I found most interesting of the three. It had a well presented story that brought Savannah history to life and even good presentation of urban archeology.
The Telfair Museum and the Jepson Center across the square are excellent. The permanent collections are quite good and the temporary exhibits are as well. We really enjoyed visiting both venues.
Thanks Louis! We are glad you enjoyed your visit.
Three museums for one low price! Two traditional Savannah homes presenting very different looks at historic life in the south. The third is an exquisite museum for modern art.
Thank you for your comments. We agree that 3 museums for 1 price is a great deal, even if you only have time to see two of them.
The Mary Telfair mansion has been restored and tells some of the Savannah story. The addition of the art installation including American impressionists and Kahlil Gibrain works was a real treat.
