We were tired and hungry after a full day of exploring Savannah historic district and the Pirate House provided not only good food and a much needed respite from the weather but great entertainment from "Country", our bartender and food server. We ran into a kindred spirit in the general manager, a fellow half Cajun. We had such fun and were impressed with the level of service and the good food. The history of the building added to the experience but the people made the difference.

My sister & I enjoyed it here. I had the chicken gumbo with shrimp & it was delicous. My sister had the crab melt & she liked her meal as well. They also offer a lunch buffet but they put it away by 3pm & we had arrived just a little before hand, heard their fried chicken is excellent but they only had chicken fingers on the lunch menu. They also have a big gift shop upstairs that was fun to wonder around in. Overall it was a good experience!

Our group of 4 adults had a great time at the Pirate House. We bought the pirate hats and mustaches for $1.00 and wore them the entire time we were there. We had a lady pirate who was just awesome. She kept trying to steal our food and just teased us while we were eating. She also gave us a tour of the building when we finished eating. The good was great! The tours are free, but they do accept gratuity. I would highly recommend this place. Also, you can make a reservation online prior to your arrival to ensure fast seating.

It was interesting to see how the pirate house combined a tavern, an outside garden, and a herb house to use as a restaurant. We dined in the herb house which is said to be one of the oldest buildings in Savannah. The Crab soup and biscuits were very enjoyable. During our meal we enjoyed hearing about how many past drunk customers had awoken to find themselves on a pirate ship halfway to China. After our meal, a story teller pirate gave us a tour of the building and posed for pictures.

The food here is just average for Savannah, for average food it was over priced. We took my in-laws here for their anniversary. The quality of the food is not on par with the price, not saying the food was bad. It plays up the Pirate motif, but their roaming pirate quickly becomes obnoxious and intrusive. Okay, we get it it's the pirate house and you need a pirate to greet you. But, bad joke after bad joke and constant interruptions by this pirate was irritating . We were visibly annoyed by him constantly interrupting our conversations yet he still didn't get it. Finally we told him thanks we get it , but enough. This did not stop the obnoxious pirate. If you want to be constantly annoyed by a pirate with bad jokes during your entire dinner then this is the place for you. If you want an annoying pirate to interrupt your conversations with more bad jokes then this is the place for you.
