Description: The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Enthusiastically recommended by AAA, Food & Wine and Redbook.

“Walk the plank...”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

I made a reservation which I highly suggest. We had 7 people in our group. Originally, we were going to placed at a round table in the missle of the room when I spotted the Herb House vacant. I asked to sit in there and the hostess seemed less than pleased that I asked but she obliged. If you have a party of 7-8, ask to sit in the Herb House. It is such a neat environment witha great backstory. The food was good. I had the she-crab soup which was excellent! My husband visited the buffet and was pleased with it. They give kids the cutest pirates hat, eye patch, and mustache. The food was good for the price. Once again, a landmark in Savannah so I say...Walk the Plank!

“Fun history to this restaurant”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Located at the edge of town, a few blocks up from River Street, this former tavern has some colorful history. As ships pulled in to drop off textiles, spices, etc., sailors got shore time and headed to this tavern for some relaxation and time with the ladies. Often new crew members were needed for these long outages. Many reluctant, due to rough conditions while on the ship...from what they'd heard. Many a drinker found himself aboard the sailing ship, the next day, following a night of too much " fun." By then too late to leave. There is a secret passage from where unsuspecting drunks were "guided" to the ship.
Variety of sandwich and lunch type items at moderate prices here, too

“Nice for kids, not for date night”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Brought our two daughters - 5 and 9. Were seated in a small room with two other tables. One of them had a family of 4 with a baby. The other a young couple on what I expect was a date night.

The baby at the other table gave out a short scream once every 10 minutes or so.

The place is a kid magnet - the menus turn into pirate hats. The food is OK. You come for the Pirate theme, and they deliver. For kids. Not for your date.

I suppose they had an evening they'll never forget. (BTW - Pirate House, there appeared to be more than a handful of couples. Maybe you want a couples area? Might be a good idea...)

We just had a drink and an appetizer at the bar but the place is awesome. They let us walk around afterwards to check out the entire building. I will be back.
