What a great gem in Historic Savannah. Housed in an antebellum mansion built by one of the early moguls of Savannah commerce, it comprises an impressive collection of ships models and paintings from the early days of Georgia. Themed rooms contain antebellum, Civil War and later models, as well as displays of navigational instruments, ships in bottles, scrimshaw and other nautical items. Free parking in the back, which is how you enter. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They really enjoy answering questions. Add it to your list of things to see and do when you're in town.
