While at a conference I was able to have dinner with my colleagues at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum. Interesting displays and stunning ship models. The very large Titanic model was particularly interesting. Certainly worth a visit but not in my top six in Savannah.

Incredible ship models. Quite a bit of history that focuses on Georgia. Housed in a former Savannah mansion with beautiful gardens. Requires an hour visit, at most.

Wonderful model ships, lost of history to read, beautiful grounds and gardens. My husband is a boat captain so he loved to see all of the old ships. I'm glad we stopped. Took about an hour to go through the museum and walk thru the gardens. And free parking! :)

I believe we were the first ones in the door on a Saturday morning. The building that houses the museum is an amazing sight as well. One of the staff showed us the curved doors that was part of the original building. Very cool. As for the museum.... they have some fascinating replicas of many ships in amazing detail. This museum is beautifully done and is well worth the visit. Young children would probably be bored but there is something there for every adult and lots of amazing things for those interested in the sea. The navigational instruments of the past gave me a different perspective of how difficult sea travel must have been back in the day. It's an inexpensive way to spend a facinating couple of hours.

Thanks for stopping by Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum! We're glad you enjoyed your visit! We agree with you about the navigational instruments. It's very interesting to think about sailors then and now. Talk about some back-breaking work they did! Thank you for the kind review and we hope you stop back by again.

We love maritime history. Wonderful place. Lots of ship replicas/models. And a lot of maritime items. Well done and volunteers around to answer questions. Near The City Market. Has nice gardens.
