“Really liked it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

It's set in a pretty, historic house and fairly small for a museum, but that makes it very manageable, too. It takes about an hour to get through it and they have some really nice encased models, most of which seem to have been specifically commissioned.

“Interesting museum and gardens”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

We are interested in nautical history having lived on the Virginia coast for years. This museum is in a restored home near the historic district and did not disappoint. The many replicas of ships were interesting and our favorite exhibit detailed the history of Mariner Girl Scouts. This is a well hidden gem.

“Great museum! An unexpected surprise.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

After hearing about the museum, we looked at their website for more information. Based on what was presented there, we thought we would be in and out of the museum in about 45 minutes or less. After two hours inside, we continued our tour in the outside garden area. The ship models in the museum are incredible, constructed in fine detail with great care. They are large models, many that are 3 - 5 feet in length. They cover the Atlantic trade shipping of the 18th to early 20th Centuries and include sail and steam vessels. A beautiful model of the Titanic is there as well. Artifacts from old ships are displayed throughout the museum along with pictures and paintings. The Scarbrough House itself is beautiful and worth seeing. This museum is a hidden treasure in Savannah!

“Ship models are incredible”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

If you like highly detailed models then this is one place you must not miss. The ship models cover everything from old England, early United States, Civil War through modern times. The ship models are so detailed it is hard to believe that anyone could actually build what you are looking at. They normally do not have a full time tour guide but if you are fortunate you might get their security guard to give you a tour. He did a fantastic job, is very knowledgeable on all the models and seemed very pleased to do a tour even though it is not his normal job.
