The Colonial Park Cemetery is in the heart of the historic district and is within walking distance of everything in the downtown area. It is open to everyone and is free to walk through. There are many historic placards explaining its relevance in Savannah's history. Many famous Savannians from the Revolutionary War era and 18th century are buried there, including Button Gwinnett, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Very pretty and park-like

Easy walk from Bull Street area. Very old. Graves likely well beyond cemetery boundaries now covered by streets, houses etc. Union troops bivouaced there during Civil War. Will be part of any tour of historic district.

If your interested on the American Civil war then do not miss seeing this cemetery. It's centrally located in Savannah, easy to get to and easy to walk around. Impressive

This is a nice, easy walk. Make sure to read the historical markers and walk to the back brick wall and see if you can find the grave stones that have been tampered with (engravings changed). Many of the gravestones are no longer legible due to weather, which is too bad.

A visit to the Colonial Park Cemetery can amount to a history lesson of the area, and persons new to the area would do well to spend some time there. There are a number of historic markers that make the visit informative. Many people walk through the cemetery with their very friendly dogs. One can easily spend an enjoyable hour in the cemetery.
