Worth the visit! Just beautiful inside and outside. There are tours, or, if you go with a tour group, they will tell you the story behind the cathedral.

Beautiful Cathederal! The detail on the stained glass windows is amazing! Would love to come back for mass if we have time.

Just a 20 minute excursion but well worth it. The attendants were most helpful with good historical knowlege and doctrinal understanding. The building was incredible and the interior art brethtaking. Walkable distance from anything in downtown savannah.

The Cathedral is gorgeous. I have visited the cathedral in Los Angeles and the comparison is striking - the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist does what it was meant to do, to help a person feel their soul is elevated and to encourage worship. My family and I attended the 10:00 am Mass on Sunday and were fortunate to hear its authentic pipe organ (I say authentic because many churches have an electric organ and the pipes one sees are there only as a facade). What is remarkable is that the $12 million restoration done in 1999-2000 is completely paid off, through the donation box in the back of the church. There are two stained glass windows to note - on the left side, look for St. John receiving a vision of "the woman clothed with the sun" from the Book of Revelations; on the right side, look for St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin Mary.

And, when services are not taking place - it's dog friendly! You are allowed to enter with your dog on a leash.

I was so happy to have been able to attend mass. The music was heavenly. The stain glass was so beautiful.
The stations of the cross were life size. The wooden floors and the pews made me think of all the people that have attended mass.
