Stayed here over night with family and was not disappointed one bit. What worried that it would be a hell hole or some truck stop being so close to I-95. This hotel is brand new along with the entire area. You walk in and you can smell the new. The area is loaded with brand new hotels all of which are either suites or business type hotels. At the time of my stay these hotels looked all less than 85% used up. There are some nice restaurants to eat at. We decided on Longhorn which was perfect as I like steaks.

Great stay, would revisit....

My wife and I decided to visit Savannah on a last minute decision after visiting family in Miami. My Brother in law mentioned this hotel, so thought I would check it out. Called and spoke to Matt, the evening hotel manager, and he couldnt have been any nicer. Helped me out, as well as made sure we were comfortable when we got there. The hotel is very new and you can tell by the rooms. They actually smell like new rooms! The room for the price ($69.00 B/T) cant be beat. Flat screen TV, wireless, clean bathroom, fridge, coffee maker, microwave. Also the bed is soooooffffftttttt.....assuming you like that...which we did. Good size rooms, so for a family with a couple of kids, a room with 2 queens would be more than enough room. The folks working there all day were great, friendly, and helpful, and they also didnt have a bad attitude when talking to you, which I have run into in other hotels. The only drawback was that the hottub was out of order, some problem with the motor. But being in Savannah, its not like there is nothing to do. Also, the breakfast was adequate. The waffle maker was broke at this time, and not much of a hot breakfast. The only items they had hot were some bacon, eggs in a patty form, and sausage. Other than that, the typical breakfast fare (cereal, toast, bagel, fruit, juice, coffee). If you are a big breakfast eater, this will probably disapoint you, but if you dont want to fill up, this will suffice and you can get your exercise in the Historical Savannah. Dont let the airport part fool you. Its a couple miles to the airport, and the planes (all 2 in the morning!) are to far to cause any noise issues. This property is also right off of I-95 and appx 10-15 miles/minutes to the downtown savannah which was great for us. Overall, for the price and cleanliness and location, I would stay here again and recommend it.

  • Liked — The newness and cleanliness of the hotel
  • Disliked — hot tub not working, and food could have been more of a variety

We were able to book this hotel at a rate of $67 a night ($75 after taxes). For this amount, it was a great value.

The hotel itself was very nice--clean, modern. The beds were a bit hard but linens were spectacular. The room had a microwave, fridge, and flatscreen along with a decently sized bathroom.

Checking in was a slight issue--despite the fact that there was no one else there it took about 20 minutes for the receptionist to find out if there was a room available with no explanation for the delay. We had requested a top-story, golf-course view room and got the latter but not the former despite the fact that the hotel was obviously not full. At $67, however, we weren't going to make a big deal about it.

The biggest disappointment was the breakfast--it was advertised as a "hot expanded breakfast"--we went down at 8:00 and almost everything was gone. The waffle maker was broken and the only other hot item was biscuits and gravy of which there was only one left. Only a few of the various pastries, etc. were left and did not look good--we gave up and had breakfast down the road.

If you don't mind being out by the airport, this is a decent place to stay so long as the rate is comparable. Had I paid around $100 I would have not be satisfied, but as it is I can give it a good review. We still felt like we were getting a bargain.

Stayed here for 2 nights while on a leaf peeping excursion w/ my wife. This is my first time staying at a Wingate, usually stay at a Marriotts brand or Hilton brand hotel, Looks to be a brand new hotel. Pets stay free, very nice. The room was very clean w/ ample room, good internet connection. (Your chioce of wired or wireless). Very nice flat screen TV w/ abundant channels. Has outdoor pool and indoor jacuzzi which was "OUT of ORDER" during our stay. Easy to get to from I-95 and in an area that has a bunch of new hotels. There's good eats on the other side of I-95, less then a mile from the hotel. Breakfast is normal for this type of hotel, round molded eggs, bacon, one waffle maker, danish, fruits and cereals.

My husband and I chose romantic Savannah for our honeymoon, and we booked a room at the Wingate based on all the positive reviews.

Upon checking into our room, we were greeted by a large, modern room that appeared to be clean and pleasantly cedar-scented (221). I did a quick inspection (I've worked in hotel housekeeping!) and upon pulling back the bedcovers, discovered a used tissue and several hairs (upper and lower) ! On the floor was a swizzle straw, and the trash hadn't been emptied.
We went down to the front desk and explained the situation, and were quickly offered an apology and another room.
Our next room, 205, had a clean bedroom and bath, but the two glasses on the vanity were smudged with lipstick prints on the rims.
Needless to say, we only used the pre-packaged plastic cups that were provided!
Other than the housekeeping issues, the room itself is outstanding-a built in luggage bench that could double as seating, excellent lighting (with real incandescent bulbs!!!) plentiful electrical outlets, a large screen LG LCD television, wired and wireless internet capabilities and even a clock radio with an MP3 player jack!
The bed is a thing of beauty-instead of a bulky, ugly comforter with a busy stain-hiding pattern, you get a crisp white down duvet that's lightweight and very warm...and best of all, has a washable white cover! There is also a pretty gold throw on top for colour.
Our king-sized bed came with four big, cuddly-soft pillows and a cute little neckroll, so those of you who like lots of fluffy pillows (like me!) will be very happy.
The mattress is firm but has a cushy pillow top, so your back will get the support it needs without being too hard.

The bathroom was also very nice, but my husband noted it would have been better had there been lighting over the tub. The Judith Jackson bath products are very nice, especially the lotion, which has a strong lavender aftershave scent. The scent lasts through a hand washing, so those of you who are "scent-sitive" should probably bring your own products. The shampoo and conditioner smelled wonderful, but the conditioner actually dried out our hair..not good. :(

The only other drawback I found with this hotel is its cheap construction. The walls and floors are very thin, so every door slam can be felt as well as heard-and you will hear your neighbour's conversations. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

There are delicious freshly baked cookies available in the lobby in the evenings (if you get to them in time!) and in the mornings you can get hard boiled eggs, sausages, biscuits & gravy, pastries and delicious do-it-yourself Belgian waffles, which are prepared by a very friendly breakfast bar attendant.

Over all, staying at the Wingate Inn was a positive experience-with some improvements in housekeeping, it could be an excellent establishment.

• • Special note for GPS users • •

If you put the hotel's address into a GPS unit, it will not be found.
The street (Sylvester C. Formey Drive) has not been added to GPS maps yet, so we ended up using Yahoo Maps for accurate directions. If you use Google it will give the correct address but give directions to another Wingate Inn in Savannah oh highway 204!

Very pleasant stay. Wanted to visit Savannah without paying the price to stay in the Historic District. The Wingate was perfect. Very clean, staff was very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was just fair, good enough to get coffee and a cake or cereal in the morning. The drive to the Historic District is very easy, and only took about 15 minutes. Never had a problem with traffic or finding parking once we reached our destination for the day. I would definitely stay in this hotel again. Also the hotel is situated on a golf course, and the view is quite nice. When reserving your room be sure to ask for a room with the golf course view!

  • Liked — Very clean. Spacious room. Bathroom was also roomy.

I stayed at the Wingate for a last minute overnight getaway. It is a brand new hotel. The breakfast is the normal cont. breakfast that every hotel has. The rooms are large. The exercise room is larger than what I expected. And it is convenient to downtown and minutes from the airport. I will stay there again. The staff is friendly and helpful.
