Owner description: You don't have to be an architect to enjoy the Architectural Tours of Savannah with Jonathan Stalcup. He is author and holds a Master of Architecture degree from SCAD. Jonathan not only knows his stuff design-wise, he makes it really easy for the average tourist to understand how Savannah was born and grew into the beautiful and beautifully singular city it is. He not only stops and points, he brings along visual aids to help you understand how a particular building or square evolved. You won't be bored or even tired- the tour progresses (and walks) through hundreds of years of history at leisurely pace.

Having been to Savannah numerous times and having taken various tours, this is definitely the best! As someone interested in history and architecture, I was amazed at how much I learned in 90 minutes. This tour taught me to notice all the wonderful details in this amazing city. For $20, this is one of the best bargains in town. Don't miss it!

I brought 9 high school students to Savannah over MLK weekend and scheduled a tour with Jonathan. It was amazing. He really knows his architecture and history, but he has a wonderful ability to relate to people. It is notoriously difficult to catch teenagers interest, especially when its low-tech and "academic," but these kids were enthralled. They liked Jonathan, felt he spoke to them as an equal rather than speaking down to them, and they absorbed the information he gave like little sponges. Each one said it was their favorite experience in Savannah. Pass on the hearse tours, the trolley tours, and the like and go for the architectural tour -- you won't be disappointed.

Jonathan's tour was very informative, interesting, and engaging. It is a good overview of both Savannah's beautiful architecture and also its extensive history. As a graduate of SCAD with a master's in architecture and many years studying the history and architecture of Savannah, he knows his stuff. He offers two tours. His main tour is of the historic district closer to the river. The other is called "King Cotton" and is of the area around Forsyth Park. I took the former, and when I return to Savannah, I will take the latter.

Jonathan provided a very good value of a 90-minute walking tour of Savannah's architectural history from its founding to present day. Easy walk, great guide and willingness to answer questions along the way. Great value for anyone interested in architecture, for only $20.

This was the best tour I have taken in Savannah. Jonathan is very knowledgeable and his tour is for anyone interested in Savannah's history and architecture. He gives accurate and interesting information about the various styles of architecture and about the people who owned and designed the buildings. Recommend for anyone with a serious interest in learning more about Savannah.
