“Fantastic hotel”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

My wife and I stayed one night here in late may 2013,during our annual holiday(sorry America,I mean vacation!) We chose this hotel primarily for it's location as we only had a short stay in Baltimore and wanted to see as many Inner Harbour sights as possible. We were not disappointed ,this hotel is within five minutes walk of everything "touristy".Check out a map of Baltimore and see for yourself.Arrival and check-in was an absolute pleasure.EVERY member of staff that helped us ,from valet parking to front desk, was a credit to the hotel. Each person we spoke to was so friendly , efficient and enthusiastic about their hotel and city that it put most British hotel service to shame. At check-in we received a free upgrade to a harbour view junior suite, just because we asked nicely and the desk staff wanted to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.I can't comment on the hotel bars and restaurants as we just didn't have enough time to try them.however,if they are run to the same standards as the rest of the hotel, they are sure to be pretty good! This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at in America and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Baltimore. Our special thanks go to MARC .He valet parked our car, took our bags to the room and answered every question we had.He is one of the nicest guys we have ever met and is a credit to Baltimore and the hotel.

We hoped to do an early check-in at the hotel, arriving around noon on a Sunday. However when we arrived the room wasn't ready so we left our bags, parked, and did some site seeing. We continued to call throughout the day and were finally told that the room wouldn't be ready until check-in at 4pm. We weren't concerned about this, had some food, and then headed over to check in at 5pm. The room STILL wasn't ready! We were exhausted at this point and wanted to rest before heading out to the ball game that night. We sat in the lobby waiting (along with many many other guests) for our room to be ready and the only consolation was free drinks at the bar--which none of us were interested in. We were finally in the room close to 6pm! The room was large, but not well appointed. No in room coffee/hot water making machine. It did not have the feel of a luxury hotel. The staff was friendly enough, but we were a bit frustrated by the overall experience.
The pros are the excellent view of the inner harbor (if you pay for it) and great location for walking to the ballpark and inner harbor areas.

Hello lizzy502,
Thank you for taking time to submit your review. We certainly understand your perspective and appreciate the frustration you experienced prior to check in at our hotel. Your experience is atypical, however, not acceptable for any guest. Overall, we hope your stay with us was a positive one and I am confident if you returned and stayed with us again, your experience would be a very positive one.

We chose this hotel from the internet, mainly because of it's central location. We were pleasantly surprised with all the amenities. The lobby was quite stately and old world, but very inviting. The oversized hotel room's decor was a bit outdated, but the view was a million dollar's worth. The view of the Harbour was breathe taking. The fact that there was a flat screen tv in the oversized bathroom was added plus. Conveniently located within walking distance to all.

Dear Sylviarod10,
Thanks for your review. We appreciate your comments and we are also very happy to inform you that our hotel will undergo a complete renovation from top to bottom in the very near future, so some amazing things will be happening here soon at this Inner Harbor hotel. We will maintain some of the old world charm, but we will be as good as new very soon. Stay tuned. Thanks again for your review.

I was at the Roayl Sonesta in Baltimore for a couple of days attending a conference. From the very beginning throughout the entire stay, the staff was extremely accommodating. Everyone was polite and professional and very personable. Each one was a tour guide in his/her own right and had extensive knowledge of the area.
Do NOT trust the cab's! It cost an extra $12 to return to the airport that it did from there. They are vultures! The hotel was great - food off the cuff and it could not have been in a better location. I can't wait to go back! Love the Crab Cakes - didn't meet one I didn't like!!!
Book your reservation now and bring your walking shoes and workout clothes. The health club is the best I have seen outside a professional club!

Room Tip: I had the city view. I would opt for the harbor on the next visit.

Hello Tim H,
We really appreciate your taking time to submit a great 5-star review via TripAdvisor. Thanks for the kind words about our staff, too. We truly believe our staff is the best in Baltimore and they prove it every day and valifdated by reviews such as yours. While our fitness center is very nice, we aslo just added a sports court, so we now have tennis, volleyball and basketball - all on the 7th floor roof overlooking downtown Baltimore. Thanks again for your 5-star review and we hope to see you again if your travels return you to Baltimore.

My family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children, had tickets for the Yankee/Orioles game at 1:35pm. We were notified that the game was going to be the ESPN Sunday game of the week so the time was changed to 8:05pm. We have a 2 hour drive so we started to check for hotels and stumbled upon Royal Sonesta and their Camden Crazies Package. This is an awesome package! It included valet parking, 4 tickets to the Camden Yards Ballpark Tour (dugout, press box etc.), overnight accommodations and a baseball themed amenity. The hotel even went out of their way to go directly to the stadium to ask questions me, since on the ballpark's website only certain tours included the dugout and my kids really wanted to see the dugout. They secured tickets for my family which would definitely include the dugout and my sons haven't stopped talking about the tour! Upon checkout I asked the very polite desk clerk about the baseball themed amenity (I thought it would be a baseball card or something similar) but she told me we were supposed to get peanuts/popcorn and soft drinks in our room upon check in. That did not happen, and she was very apologetic. She even took a few dollars off our bill. If I can say anything negative, I wish they had rooms with queen beds. It was difficult sleeping 4 in 2 double beds. I understand they are going to be renovating since Royal Sonesta recently took this hotel over and I hope it may include new larger beds. The location can't be beat. I was extremely satisfied with this hotel and we would definitely stay here again.

Dear MON1967,
Thank-you very much for your 5-star review on TripAdvisor. we definitely remember working with you to make sure your Camden Crazies package worked out as you had wished. It was a little quirky given the ESPN Sunday Night game and the team being able to offer the dugout tour, so we are glad we could own this for you, so you and your family were not disappointed and were pleased with the outcome. We know how special being on the field and in the O's dugout can be, and we are so happy the memory will be one you and your family can cherish for a long time. Thanks again for your 5-star review and we hope to see you again soon.

We were re directed to this hotel after our original hotel failed to provide requested accommodations. Even tho it was late and a last minute booking by Expedia on a very busy weekend, the hotel staff were extremely gracious. We were given a harbor view room across the street from inner harbor. It was gorgeous and the room was wonderful. In hotel restaurant was lovely, and were very accommodating to the children. Best hotel we have ever stayed in!

Room Tip: Harbor view

Dear Barbara C,
Thanks so much for providing us with a 5-star review. Very pleased to hear you had such a great experience with us on a busy weekend despite booking via the service you used. If you wish, next time, call us directly at the hotel, or book online as our rates will be very much in line with advertised rates - and we may be able to offer an upgrade over the phone. Just a thought, but again we appreciate your kind words and 5-star review, and we hope to see you again soon.

I truely enjoyed my stay at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. This was my famlies 1st time in Baltimore
the staff was very polite very helpful with all of the amenities the hotel had to offer , as well as local fare. My room was lovely and spacious as we are a family of 4 we had a corner suite with a perfect view of the harbor , which was steps away for the front of the hotel just perfect . The hotel has and indoor pool which was lovely and a gym. We just came to Baltimore to visit the harbor the staff member gave us a recommendation when we asked about eatting out for crabs and seafood a restaurant Mo's which had a shuttle that offered door to door service the food was great. This hotel is also within walking distance of several other resturants and shopping
the food at the hotel is great also if you just want to stay in and enjoy a little room service . The Royal Sonesta is at the top of my list of places to stay in Baltimore harbor and I look forward to staying here again . I also have informed all of my family, friend and coworkers to this hotel and the best place to stay on the Harbor

Room Tip: The rooms have an old world feel to it the the high post beds which was lovely. The room was a king...
