Our family of 4 stayed here in July before heading to the Orioles game- less than 5 minute walk! We skipped the hotel parking and found a lot right beside it for half the price. The room is HUGE and ornately decorated- the beds are unfortunately small in comparison to the room size. Unfortunately our bed was broken on one side and very hard (this kind of stuff doesn't usually bother me). The kids got a kick out of the TV in the bathroom and it was a much bigger bathroom than usual (I would actually consider taking a bath in it as it was quite clean). The pool on the rooftop overlooks Camden Yards and is quite busy but great for the kids. Right on the waterfront- it has access to anything you might want to do in Baltimore- park the car and walk everywhere!

Thank you for the review of our property from your recent visit. It appears you and your family enjoyed your stay with us with the exception of the comfort level of our beds. We are currently in the beginning phases of a renovation project and hope to be underway late next year. I hope you will have the opportunity to return to Baltimore and visit us again.

This hotel is conveniently located across the inner harbor. The hotel is very luxurious and excellent place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is old, but its very well kept. The rooms are very spacious and very well kept. Originally, we were planning to go out for dinner, but due to the rain we were forced to stay in the hotel. However, it was well worth it. We loved the bar as it was very unique and different from the traditional bars in other hotels. They had quite a large collection of cocktails and other drinks. The restaurants were excellent. The food we ordered was very tasty and loved it. However, I wish they had more selection to choose from. But, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The only issue I found was that, when someone flushes the toilet in the room above you can hear it. Also sometimes I heard some weird noises, which I was unable to pin point what it was. However, these noises are not very loud and are bearable. Other than this, it’s an excellent hotel.

Suffice to say that the night after we stayed here we stayed at the Ritz in Washington, DC - and it paled in comparison. From the bellmen to the front desk to the restaurant staff to the workout room, we were treated wonderfully.

Great location but that's about it. The decor is dated and not maintained at a standard appropriate for the price paid. The help/staff are woefully ill mannered and when reported at the local level, the manager was equally inept. Fortunately, when the matter was taken up to the corporate level there was an adequate response. Though one should never have to reach that far for remediation of poor employee conduct that affects a guest. Aside from the obvious unfortunate situation I was caused to deal with; given my overall experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel. There are many other hotels in the area that offer more up to date accommodations and equally well situated around the inner harbor.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Please accept our apology for the level of service you received during your visit. The hotel takes these matter very seriously and this review has been shared with all of our staff.

I'm not sure if you're aware, a major renovation of the hotel guest rooms and public spaces will take place. We are in the beginning phases and hope to be underway by the end of 2013.

A group of rooms were reserved for a wedding party. The onsite manager, Margaret, did an excellent job. The online reservations did not. They did not have all the dates for people coming for the wedding and quoted a price more than double what our reserved price was. A quick call to Margaret cleared up everything.
The staff was very attentive to the wedding party and handed each their Goodie Bag as they arrived.
There were lovely places within the lobby and elsewhere for group photos.
I understand they are due to be remodeled soon. We had Harbor View room with lovely window, but no seating. They need 2 easy chairs for the view. Bathroom arrangement awful. Less than 1 foot from tub to toilet, then 3 feet to the sink. Also, no vent fans. Floor very slippery when wet. They used to wrong tile. I hope some of this will be corrected when they remodel. The wet floor is a hazard. Pillows were awful - bring your own.

Room Tip: All rooms were nice. Unless spending time in your room, get one on court side. Harbor view is good...

The Royal Sonesta is ideally situated in downtown Baltimore, across the street from the Inner Harbor and a 5 block walk to Camden Yards. I spent last weekend there with a group of friends to play golf and watch the Orioles play. We only need our cars to drive to the golf course. It was perfect. The hotel is very nice. Clean, comfortable and modern. I think it used to be an Inter-Continental and has been rebranded. Rooms and bathrooms have been updated. Friendly staff. I would stay here again.

Loved the VERY comfortable bed and linens, and the bathroom with fluffy large towels and upscale amenities was wonderful. The public spaces, decorated in a kind of English-country-house way were nice, especially the bar which had very good couches and books on the walls (though upon closer inspection they seemed to have purchased these books from the Netherlands and other foreign countries for their bindings, since most of them were in Dutch or Danish).

However, our room which overlooked the harbor (wonderful view) looked like it had seen better days with peeling baseboards and carpet which was about 20 years old in a kind of hideous maroon design with large flowers, no artwork on walls except for 2 small prints, in other words, it just needed attention. Another curious feature was the fire system which blinked continually through the night, pretty annoying. At the high prices for the harbor view rooms, in my opinion the rooms should be spotless and very attractive, with NO major design flaws, or the desk staff should steer the high-paying customers to the rooms which have already been renovated.

We also want to note the accomodating staff who were all gracious, seemed to take pride in their work, and were anxious to share Baltimore with us. All in all, can't quite give the place 5 stars but with good management they can get there eventually...
