“Stay during daughter's move in at JHU”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Great hotel and location if you are visiting and/or moving undergraduate students at Johns Hopkins. The amenities are not great and it can be noisy, but you can't beat the location. There are not many options for other decent hotels in the immediate area.

My son is a senior at JHU and this hotel is right across the street - you can't get more convenient. As you enter, the lobby is delightful, very well designed, decorated and furnished, but the best part is being greeted by Terrell Brownlee, Front Desk Manager - he makes you feel welcome and right at home. The rooms have recently been upgraded with new furniture. The rooms are still dark but I'm told they are working on upgrading the lighting and hopefully will change the art work to something more in tune with their surroundings. The restaurant provides good food with friendly service. I've been staying there for three years and I will continue each time I'm in the area.

We ironically got this suite at a discounted rate due to poor service they gave a family member. The first hint of what was to come was trying to get a bite to eat in the restaurant, and the staff completely ignored us. We left and ate somewhere else. Then, you would think that the bathroom in a large suite would be roomy, but the sink had NO room on it or around it to set anything on. The stopper in the tub didn't work and I had to call someone to replace it. Whatever heating and cooling system they have makes an awful roaring sound inside walls (I've never heard anything like it!). Our one breakfast was delivered wrong - I specified two guests, but it arrived with one set of silverware, one glass of water, and no salt and pepper. It did have two coffee cups tho. They did bring the remaining items up to us, but at that point I was pretty much done with this hotel.

There must be a million better places to stay, other than here.

Unless I have no choice. I always choose Hilton, Double tree and enjoy the facilities very much. The staffs, restaurants, food, services are great. But Parking lot lighting can be brighter. I also faced a problem, bathroom tub got clog. Finally it was fixed soon after I called the front desk. The elevators areas seems tight. Especially when many customers are waiting. General speaking, I am satisfy the stay. The second part is the <entrance door> is hard to find.

I have stayed at this hotel 2 times. They really make an effort to get to know you and help in anyway possible. I have a child who just started school in the area and I look forward to returning! I was greated with a warm cookie and a cold bottle of water. Nice added touch!

Very good hotel, rooms need new carpets to get rid of ages old cigarette smoke. Otherwise, it is very good. Service is excellent, front desk is not always as familiar as they should be about Light Rail In Baltimore, but they do try to please.

I've stayed at this hotel several times and have had good experiences. However this most recent visit was also good, except the beds in our room are in sore need of replacing. My husband, daughter, and myself each awoke with back aches due to the beds.
