“Great hotel, especially for parents of JHU athletes”

This is our go-to hotel in Baltimore when visiting our daughter at Hopkins. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, spacious and bright with both good relaxation and good work spaces, excellent breakfast and free Internet for Hilton members, and of course the easy access to Johns Hopklns University. There is low-cost and free street parking nearby.

A very nice hotel with semi-posh accommodations. You definitely pay a premium for being across the street from Johns Hopkins.

However, Double Tree clearly doesn't pay too many visits to the hardware store because the lighting in this room is awful. They definitely don't believe in having guests see what's in their rooms.

Our double queen bed room had exactly two average desk lamps and a small light in an alcove to light up this entire room. If you like doing shadow puppets on walls, this would perfect room for you. Otherwise, I recommend you bring your own floor lamps or flashlights if you hope to have your room lit up in any normal way.

Room Tip: Ask the front desk for the best lit room.

I recently spent one night at the Inn at the Colonnade. It had been many years since I had been there and they have done a very nice upgrade.

Rooms - decent-sized, clean, nice toiletries, free internet, comfortable bed
Breakfast - the continental buffet isn't all that impressive, but I got the bed and breakfast option and was able to order off the menu. Staff was very attentive and good food came quickly.
Location - this is unbeatable if you have business at the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Even if you have business elsewhere in Baltimore, it is only about a $15 cab ride to downtown.

I recommend this for anyone with business at Hopkins.

The Doubletree Inn at The Colonnade is an average hotel. Positive aspects include its' proximity to Johns Hopkins main campus, convenient self parking, very comfortable bed with an abundance of pillows, and of course, the warm cookies. I'll preface my negatives by saying I arrived at 1:30am after a few delays and an arduous rental car experience. Our room was a bit of a haul from the elevator and the keys didn't work when we got there. The front desk staff member accompanied me on trip #2...mentioned something about having to know the "trick". My key never worked all weekend. Our room was dingy and smelled of old smoke, and the coffee machine didn't work. Overall, it worked out to being average.

You can't beat the location if you're doing stuff at Jkhns Hopkins, and the staff is friendly, eager, and responsive. But the lock on my room door was so balky that I ended uphavinf to have the key replaced multiple times, which was quite frustrating. And although I had a nonsmoking room, there was a bit of a smoky smell. Nice toiletries, though.

Booked a room on HHonors points back in June, while planning a trip to Camden Yards. Having stayed in numerous other Hilton properties, Doubletrees included, we figured this was a good bet. (Other properties closer to Camden Yards and Inner Harbor were all sold out due to ComiCon this weekend.) It's a lovely hotel in a nice neighborhood, right across the street from Johns Hopkins' Lacrosse stadium, and conveniently near public transportation.

Being a Gold level HHonors member, we were upgraded to a full size suite. This was nice, though not unexpected since it's one of the Gold perks. However, I was annoyed at having to pay $24 for self-parking. This fee should've been waived, but I was told there were no exceptions. It shouldn't have to be an exception; the fee is ridiculous. The room itself is nice enough, though small for a suite. We stayed in room 277, on the far end of the floor in a corner. The design of this part of the floor is such that a few suites are all in the corner, and have multiple rooms in each by making them all tiny. The pull out sofa, which my daughter slept on, needs a new mattress. When I pulled the bed out, the mattress stayed folded in half... and after unfolding it and laying down next to her, I found the crease was right over the metal bar. I would never have been able to sleep in it myself with that bar. Fortunately she's tiny and young, so probably won't notice it.

We had an opportunity to try the food when we ordered a late dinner from room service. The crab soup was cream-based, perfectly seasoned, and chock full of large lumps of fresh crab meat. Absolutely delicious! Likewise, the crab cake sandwich was succulent and flavorful. A large, warm crab cake almost too soft and moist to keep its "cake" shape was served with a soft roll, lettuce, tomato, and a light remoulade dressing. The meat was tender and delicious, and the roll soft enough to eat it as a proper sandwich. Only mild complaint was the mac-and-cheese we ordered from the kid's menu. It was amazingly rich and flavorful, but because it wasn't typical orange-cheese-and-elbow-pasta mac, my daughter wouldn't go near it. So my husband enjoyed every last forkful! But seriously, if it's on a kid's menu, it should be what they typically expect from the food name.

Overall, some good, some less than ideal... But just average for Doubletree.

My daughter and I checked into a beautiful suite only to find it smelled strongly of smoke. A black air purifying machine sat on the floor, inoperative. We were moved to a smaller room only to have 2 strange men enter our new room with a key. Wifi kept going out and we had to keep logging in. Restaurant food was good, hotel experience disappointing.
