“Great, affordable stay!”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

I stayed at the Brookshire Suites while I took the Maryland Bar Exam. I came into the hotel extremely stressed, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They gave us great recommendations of places to eat, as well as menus of places that did delivery (which was very much needed!) The location is also fantastic! It is literally right between the convention center and the inner harbor (roughly two blocks away from both places). So, if you are there for business or for fun, I would highly recommend it. They also have a cute little wine bar in the lobby. The rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. We could not have had a better room!

I only had very few complaints - which is amazing because I was incredibly stressed out- First, the breakfast is a little lack luster. Honestly, this is a very mild complaint as the breakfast is an additional service, not an entitlement. Also, the valet is extremely over-priced. There is a lot right next door to the hotel for $6.00 over night. So, I would park there. Again, these are minimal complaints.

I had a great stay and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful! I highly recommend the Brookshire suites!

Room Tip: The "Cloud Club" level is where breakfast is served. The view there is gorgeous and you c...

Hi Sara,

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor. I really appreciate your honest feedback.

As you know, we just completed a big renovation of the entire hotel. We've spent a lot of time on making sure our rooms were right. Now that this task is behind us, we are beginning a process to evaluate our breakfast offerings. We've been meeting with various supplier over the past month to see what options are out there so we can provide a much healthier and a better breakfast experience. I do have to admit, our breakfast is ordinary, eggs, breakfast meat, waffles, yogurts, oatmeal, breakfast pastries, but nothing super special. I'm sure we will have something rolled out very soon to enhance our guests experience.

We continually do rate shops with other hotels to ensure that we are as competitive as possible with valet parking rates. Some hotels are charging up to $54 per night for valet parking, while we are $36. Of course, our guests have the option to self park in area garages, however, I do caution them to make sure they read the signs before selecting a garage. Some are not open 24-hours and some are not open on Sundays. So make sure you don't get stuck in a garage that isn't open! Finally, with our valet option, you can charge your parking right to your room and you wont have to worry about paying each time you exit the garage.

Thanks again for your comments. I really appreciate your feedback. Good luck with your exam results!

We were most pleased with our stay. The suite was newly renovated and very well appointed. The bed was comfortable. The staff was most helpful and accommodating. We'd certainly make this our #1 choice on our next trip to Baltimore.

Thank you for taking time to complete a review on Brookshire Suites. I really appreciate your feedback.

I often tell visitors that Baltimore is like a football field, Harbor East as one end zone and the Ballparks another end zone....and Brookshire Suites is right on the 50 yard line!

Thanks again for staying with us. I really appreciate your business.

Brookshire Suites isn’t a grand luxe palace hotel -- no restaurant, no shops, no pool -- but it isn’t pretending to be. It is what it is, and very, very good at being itself: an astonishingly well-located property for visiting Baltimore’s Inner Harbor or attending Convention Center events; a hotel newly renovated throughout in cool modern; a place where every staff person we met was more than eager to please (we're seniors and have seen lots of staff around the world that weren't so eager); and a tariff that can only be described as very modest in comparison with the giant chain hotels that surround it (even taking into account the $9.95 daily amenities fee).
With a couple dozen restaurants from fast food to high cuisine within a two-block radius, and several dozen more a half mile away in Little Italy and Harbor East, who needs an in-hotel restaurant? There is a small convenience alcove off the lobby with snacks, microwaveables, yogurt and ice cream, as well as bathroom necessities. There’s also a small wine/beer bar in a corner of the lobby, but apparently with few patrons. Breakfast is in a large and sunny top (12th) floor dining room, and has the basics -- juices, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cereals, toast, danish, coffee/tea -- but it didn’t quite come up to a complimentary breakfast at a Hampton Inn or a Doubletree or a Country Inns and Suites.
We recommend the corner suite (03 tier) on the Lombard and Calvert corner; it has a view straight down Calvert to the harbor. All the rooms facing on Lombard and Calvert have mini-bay windows, so you can look down the street in both directions. Both the living room and the bedroom were very spacious, and more than made up in square footage for the fairly low ceilings (7’4”). Mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable, and housekeeping -- linens, towels, amenities -- was impeccable. The high-tech clock-alarm included a white noise generator.
The building diagonally across the street has offices but also a four-floor atrium shopping mall, with all the major national mall brands, plus a food court on the fourth floor (the far end of the building is the Renaissance hotel). So again, who needs shops in the hotel when all the stores you could want are right across the street? Step out of the front door of the mall and you are facing the entire Inner Harbor complex (including a well-used running path). A free Circulator bus is also nearby.
Bottom line: save the big bucks you would spend on the major hotels all around the Inner Harbor, sleep just as well as you would in those hotels, and blow the savings on good Chesapeake Bay seafood.
P.S. The only reason we didn't give five green circles overall is that we think that has to be reserved for a grand luxe hotel that deserves it, but we have no hesitation in giving five green circles for the individual factors (service, value, sleep quality, etc.)

Rooms were newly renovated. However, you can tell this is an older hotel because of the limited head room in the rooms. I wouldn't want to be over 6' or your head will hit the HVAC duct runs in the ceilings. The TV area and bedroom were spacious, but the bathroom was crammed. Bed was comfy, but not so for couch and chair. Back vinyl cushions kept coming off when sitting on the sofa. Overall, a good value for the price and it was convenient to Inner Harbor attractions. We paid $89 before taxes on Hotels.com, but be aware that the hotel added an additional $10/day destination charge for Wi-fi and 2 bottles of water upon arrival (would've been nice if we got 2 bottles of water for each day). We parked in adjacent garage across street for $19 per day.

Thank you for your review. We have just completed a renovation of the entire hotel and all the furniture is brand new. I'm sorry the leather sofas have not been broken in quite yet. As they get used, they will become much more comfortable and cozy, like the rest of the room.

Some of our guest rooms do have lower ceilings, however, we also have rooms with high ceilings. A friend is 6'4" and he didn't notice the ceilings as a concern in his suites....if you are taller, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.

Please visit with us again soon. We do appreciate your loyalty.
