Jack's somewhat out of the way location and modest decor would not lead one to predict the quality and variety of the food, which is influenced by cuisine from a variety of locations around the world. The wine list, like the menu, is limited but has a number of excellent selections that are not typically found in most restaurants. And the service is outstanding. Both our waiter and the manager were very informative about the menu and wine. The latter even gave us a list of her favorite Baltimore restaurants. When we return to Baltimore, we will return to Jack's.

Another weekend in Baltimore and we ate at Jack's, twice! We love the welcoming staff who are happy to explain all the menu options and offer service throughout the meal. This restaurant offers you an eclectic variety of choices from a Guinness steak to a smoky tomato appetizer to a lentil shrimp Moroccan stew. Jack's, where a well-trained staff offer you delicious dining choices both usual and unusual.

I had forgotten about this little gem until friends were visiting us on our boat in a Canton marina and told us about this little neighborhood restaurant that had amazing food. The next we had friends over, we decided to walk up and give it a try. There were 8 of us on a Sunday evening, and we did not think to call for a reservation. Our party overwhelmed the small neighborhood restaurant, but the hostess never batted an eye. She rearranged a few tables, and "regular" diners, and we were seated within 5 minutes. The specials were all delicious and a good value - for example Guinness filet mignon for $20. Smoked heirloom tomato with fried feta, and many sous vise entrees. This is not "bar" food, but what you might expect in a fine dining restaurant. There is a good variety of food choices and the prices are very reasonable. And be sure to leave room for dessert!

This unassuming bistro on a corner in Camden section of Baltimore was a wonderful find. A casual style and a well-stocked bar with an interesting selection of draft beers set the mood for a delightful eveving. We started with an amazing appetizer of gnocchi with browned butter, parmesan, edamame, mint and capers - sounds strange, but it was light and the combination of textures and flavors was perfect! Among us, we had a filet with bacon grits and haricot vert, a steak cooked sous vide and then grilled with a chimichurri and roasted potatoes, bodhi dal (zucchini, lentils and tomato with mild curry), and a vegetarian 'bento box' that includedthe bodi dal, a salad, brussel sprouts with lemon and mustard sauce, and pureed parsnips with a touch of lemon. The meat was fork-tender, the sides were well-matched and the vegetarian dishes were perfectly seasoned and very filling. Special dessert of the day was fried smores - which looked amazing - but we were too full to even try to share one. Wonderful meal. We'll be back!

Jack's Bistro combines neighborhood attitude (Friendly!) with global menu takes and top quality! A gem, a real find. Christine and her staff provide a sincer service model that make one feel right at home. Jack's was the first risto in Baltimore to offer sous vide cooking, and the sous vide steak gets raves. I stuck to the Asian inspired menu....soy/ smoked steak tartar and chicken/ shrimp curry noodle bowl. This place has it all working, including a terrific mixology scene at the bar and a very impressive wine list for its size. When you can enjoy Domaine Weinbach 2010 Pinot Gris with your dinner, you are living right!
Check out Jack's Bistro. An original!
