Best Western Plus Hotel & Conference Center

When my parents visit, they love staying at the Best Western because the staff is incredibly friendly, the rooms are large and clean, and it is strategically located the places they like to go with shuttle service, line The Harbor and Fells Point. If you need to stay in or near Baltimore, the Best Western is a 4 or 5 star hotel for a 3 star price!!

We were travelling with our 2 kids and booked the park and cruise package from an outside website. Package includes accomodation, parking, shuttle to and from the port, and breakfast. There was also a free shuttle to and from the harbor which we did not use. Shuttle times need to be reserved.

Property is right off the Interstate in what seemed to be a mix of industrial and residential. The hotel is located in a closed travel plaza. There is a McDonalds on the property. We felt safe while on the property and parking is right outside the hotel doors away from the closed travel plaza.

Hotel lobby is nice with friendly staff. Pool and fitness area were in good shape. Pool and fitness area have nice thick towels right in the area. Full breakfast buffet was good and there was a lot of seating.

We had a room with 2 beds. Our room also had a fridge and micro. Room was clean but there was a very stong musty/chemical smell. Having the air conditioning on helped a little but as soon as the air conditioner was shut off, the smell was back with a vengance. Because we had unpacked and the hotel was full we did not complain. If we stayed again, I would ask for another room if we encountered the same smell.

The shuttle to and from the cruise port was contracted out to an outside company who did an OK job. Cruise port was only 5-10 min door to door. There was a 10-15 min wait for the shuttle (9 person van) to pick us up after the cruise.

Overall we would recommed this hotel for a quick overnight stay especially as a park and cruise option.

I am so glad the Johns Hopkins people recommended this Hotel. My husband was undergoing treatment at Johns Hopkins and we had to stay in Baltimore for several weeks. From the Front Desk staff to our Room Attendant and the Shuttle driver, everyone was so nice. The waitress in the Restaurant greeted us every morning and took the time to chat with us when she had a few minutes. There’s also a nice variety for breakfast so we could have eggs & sausage one morning, a Belgian waffle another day, and cereal yet another day. The free shuttle took us right to our building on the Bayview Campus and picked us up in the afternoon. Hopefully, the treatment was successful and we won’t have to go back to Johns Hopkins, but when we are heading to Baltimore, we will definitely use the Best Western Plus on O’Donnell St.

Room Tip: The vakue for te money is great as well as the free shuttle for a sick person it is heaven not to wo...

I have been to the hotel several time in the past and i love it. I love the idea of the dinner theater and hotel together. I live in new jersey and have family in baltimore and i always stay at this hotel. We get together to watch a show & have dinner. Its clean, all the staff is friendly, and i also like the idea of the shuttle to take you down to the harbor for free. I have seen beauty and the beast (twice) grease and Dream Girls, me and my family love it. The shows are amazing, very talented people.

I think the reason why this place is a good location is because of its free shuttle bus to both John Hopkins Hospital and to the Inner Harbor. It takes a while to get there, but then again, we have to compromise too if you want to do this within a budget. It took i think a good 30 minutes to get into the harbor, because it has to go to the hospital. In the inner harbor, you will be dropped off at the Pier 5 hotel, its a very decent place, so you can actually hand around there while waiting for the van to pick you up again.

The only thing is, some reviewers here got to take some responsibility to ask questions anywhere they go, since it is a free shuttle, chances are it will be filled. so ask the time and make reservations going to and back, why complain when you are not acting responsibly to ask the what is and what not. By the way, the shuttle only sits approximately 10 to 12 people.

As for the hotel itself, on the first floor, it has the look and feel of a very cheap hotel in the mid-80s feeling, which is not really a good thing, first impression always lasts. the gift shop is sad, its like teller booth with some racks of goodies behind it. I wonder, they got so much space, but it was not really utilize. and basically this floor needs updating pretty soon. no matter how good the food is, eating off a dirty plate is not how you would enjoy it.

As for the room, well, be aware that there is a handicap room, because i was sent into that room, although i didn't picked this room (i booked online), so it was weird to see the bathroom. lets leave it at that. I asked politely the next day to move me into another room, which they kindly did.

I was moved to room 1104, it was nice actually. but nothing like the one you will see in the pictures found in the hotel's website. But mainly, the room has NO bad weird stinky smell, clean, no bedbugs. It has ample lightings, bathroom was clean and adequate, bed is comfortable, no spring sticking on your back, tons of soft pillows, got microwave, ref but no toothpaste, no shaver in this room, unlike the handicap room, has both of them. perhaps the cleaning crew forget to put them in. Not an issue anyway, just noticed it.

For the breakfast in Tradewind inside the hotel. it was nice. of course do not think this is embassy suites where there is a cook to do your sunny side up. But it is decent, hot sausages, potatoes or eggs, some waffle you do your own, coffee, different pastries and juices. one thing i guess i would recommend what this hotel do with the breakfast is, is to invest on a good coffee. it will go along way. and its not gonna cost more than what you have right now.

Overall, i will come back, hopefully management will see this review and make some changes. As for other reviewers who wrote nasty things, ask the front desk politely, they will help, if the one you talk to didn't help, go for the next person. Chances are they will help you out. As for other travellers who want to try this, Go ahead and use this.

The only downside i guess is actually not the hotel, but area. there is no real nice restaurant to eat within a walking distance, there are some like within a few miles which requires to drive.

This Hotel cost of a fortune, bc they list they r less then one mile from the GreyHound Station, this is a lie!! and three miles from the Harbor, Cost us 22.$ each way from the bus station, and the free shuttle they advertise runs once an hour to the harbor but if its full u need to make a reservation, even if ur at the harbor..lol, save ur $17. for that unexpected ride back. The management is disrespectful, he asked my daugher to put on a smaller bathing suit not of cotton, his employee was saying more and he stopped them and restated or leave the pool, she is a muslim covered woman. We left the pool but did return to take pictures of other woman who were in short sets in the pool with cotton with no problem with full staff in view. This stay was just to horrible from the cost to the disrespect and now an attorney, Do urself a favor and stay away!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. We were traveling along I-95 and didn’t have reservations, but decided to stop there. We were pleasantly surprised with the warm greeting and excellent service received at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone wanting a clean, comfortable hotel.
The young lady at the Front Desk was professional and courteous and made us feel welcome. We checked into a very nice room with a beautiful marble shower, a microwave and a refrigerator. We loved the beds and the pillows!
Our stay included breakfast in the hotel restaurant and we didn’t go away hungry. They had Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, and lots more.
Needless to say, we will not hesitate to stay here again when we’re traveling along I-95. We may even plan to stay for a couple nights and use the hotel’s free shuttle to tour the Inner Harbor in Baltimore.
