This was not my first stay here at the "Inn". In fact, as you stroll the beautiful courtyard of the adjoining properties you'll discover the relationship of the three buildings and the history before you. As you stand in the center of the graceful, brick and wrought iron, arched entrance way, you hardly notice the bricks at your feet that create an extensive basket weave pattern, each brick being carved with initials and dates. To the unknowing it's unnoticed, but to the owners of the initials, each brick represents a date never to be forgotten, their wedding. A unique fundraiser to help offset the upkeep of the historical side of very lovely, back in time, in the middle of city like Baltimore ("Charm" city no less). Yes the rooms are each unique, each one different than the other. From the modest of the group, the "Congressional Room", to the "Carroll Suite", the largest and oldest room, dating from the 1790's, it features a sitting room w/original fireplace and daybed with courtyard and city views, complete w/4 skylights. The bedroom has the grandest four-poster king sized canopy bed complete with little step stools. Ahh, the modern convenience of a double whirlpool bath surrounded by red and white mosaic granite. Did I mention a separate shower. Each room has decor and furnishings that somehow carry you to a different time and place, yet just outside, across the street is Baltimore!
I held my oldest daughters wedding here. Start to finish, the entire event. The ceremony and small reception were actually in the upstairs level of their museum (son-in-law was a history major, with Thomas Jefferson and Mr.Carrolton his favs that he wrote a book about) So when I presented this as a venue for the entire wedding event he and his family were speechless. People don't know what's in their own back yard, is a phrase I've come to better understand the more I travel at home.
