“Great rooms-close the everything!”
Reviewed September 24, 2011

Rooms were clean and spacious. The employees are nice, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was ok, for free. It's a converted bank so the rooms are not what you normally get with a suite, there is no way to close off the living area from the sleeping area. The old vault in the basement is neat to see. The wifi connection was bad.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The only problem was that between 1:00- 2:00 AM, it was ridiculously loud as everyone was coming out of the clubs. Its a good location being a few waslking blocks from the harbor but with that, it can get very loud at night.

Two friends and I stayed here 3 nights for the Baltimore Grand Prix. The building is an old bank converted into a first rate hotel. The location was perfect - a couple blocks to the Inner Harbor and race track (the streets of Baltimore), restaurants, the Block, whatever suited your fancy. The hotel was clean and inviting, the personal was helpful and friendly across the board, from the valet parking attendants to the front desk staff. The free breakfast, including hot eggs, sausage, bacon, etc. was good. Our room had 2 queen beds plus a sleeper sofa, a nice bathroom, and enough room to walk around - much better than a standard non-suite room. Bottom line - I'd stay here again the next time I want to stay downtown in Baltimore.

Room Tip: Reserve early if you're going to the Baltimore Grand Prix next year.

Incompetence in the way my money has been taken from my account by the billing department has meant I have returned to UK with a cleaned out bank account!!!
~This would have been a 4 star rating if it had not been for the fact that due to some idiot member of staff taking £189 then £210.19 then £222.55 THEN the full hotel amount of £513.39 then they tried to take a further £321.00 !!! This has totally messed up my family finances and ruined what would have been a great trip!

Room Tip: Clean & Tidy Hotel with Friendly Staff Not much to look at outside and Breakfast was pretty crap...

Thank You for your comments on TripAdvisor.

It appears as if there were multiple "authorizations" on your credit card. When a guest checks into the hotel our systems authorize for room and tax plus about 20% for incidentals. Each time a guests purchases something in the hotel (movie, market item, has a lounge charge, etc) that authorization amount is reduced. When that happens, the system automatically seeks additional authorization to continually maintain a 20% authorization. This is what happened when you used the lounge and made purchases in the market.

I understand that this has been reviewed with you personally on the telephone and hope we were helpful in getting this concern resolved.

Thank you for staying with us!

This hotel is a hidden chain gem. We were able to check in early after an overnight flight and light rail ride into town. Service was excellent and friendly. The lobby is delightful for breakfast or hanging out. This is converted bank so the lobby has high ceilings and is very spacious. Down a spiral staircase is the small fitness room (A/C problems during our stay) and a cool meeting room inside the old vault - the door is still intact. It's a short walk to the Inner Harbor and the purple line Charm Circulator (free bus) stops nearby. I'm a Platinum SPG member and usually stay at Starwood properties but I'm glad that we tried this Marriott. We'll be back! This is not an upscale experience but very solid hospitality.

The SpringHill Suites is a lovely hotel.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby was very large, with coffee always available. Check-in was quick and efficient.

The room was large, with a seperate sofa area and desk. The beds were very comfortable, and the room had a second TV over the beds, with a good selection of digital channels. There was not much of a view, though, although I could see the Ravens stadium in the distance.

The hotel is situated only a few blocks from the Inner Harbor. As with anywhere in Baltimore, there were a few people hanging around on the streets a couple of blocks away, but it's fine as long as you are sensible.

The breakfast buffet was very good. There was a lot to choose from. Cereal, oatmeal, fruit salad, bagels, hot items, waffle iron, bread.

This is a very good hotel.

I struggled on how to rate this stay, as almost all of it was perfect and quite worthy of a 5. BUT, I did have a major issue-see below.

I booked here due to a last minute booking and all of the other Marriott family hotels at the inner harbor booked up. First-checkin was quick and efficient. The agent greeted me as a PlatPremier member and quickly offered benefits for the level. Room was given, and made my way to the room.

Upon turning around from the check in area, i was WOWED! The lobby is the MOST impressive SpringHill Suites I have been in! Elevators are old and slow, but got the job done.

Room was very very well appointed, and NOT the typical low-end SHS.

Valet-this is the part that I struggled with! Upon arrival, the nice attendant goes over the car with a fine tooth comb, noting EVERY SINGLE scratch/dent/ding. EVERY SINGLE ONE! As it was a rental, it had a few issues. It took close to 4 minutes to get them all written down.

Well-the next morning when I retrieved the car from valet, it had 2 HUGE dents in the door. One in the handle, one in the door itself. I brought it up to the valet attendant, and he looked at the damage markings. Not seeing it marked down, he then said "valet isnt repsonsible for damages!" Wow-what an unhappy outcome to a rather pleasant stay. I asked for the Manager on Duty, but since it was early their wasnt one available. I was told I would hear from someone in "a few hours". It has been 6 days and not a single word.

All-in-all, I will NOT stay back here-if I have a car. I do not want to take the responsibility of having the valet damage the car and having to pay for their damage.
