Great casual restaurant for dinner. Salt has always had an interesting menu, and does not disappoint. Be sure to make reservations, it's been discovered and parking can be difficult. Still, a favorite!

Food is very well prepared and presented. Restaurant is a bit tight and one of the few good Baltimore restaurants not to have a valet. We will go back, but have to allow extra time for parking.

and it was that - absolutely fabulous. We went for our anniversary this week with no idea what to expect. Restaurant is a bit out of the way - so easy street parking which is great! Dining area is small and intimate with exposed brick (retro) and stark furnishings. Staff - polite and knowledgeable. Cuisine...innovative and delicious. We started with a staple of mine - steak tartar. This is one of the best preparations I have had anywhere. Duck Fat french fries were "just French fries" but we had been wanting to try them. Don't understand the fuss and won't do that again. I had roast quail and my husband had a sushi quality rare tuna steak. Both dishes were attractively displayed and delicious. We had leftovers and did not have room for dessert - but next time we will plan on it.

We always try to make a stop at Salt whenever we visit the Baltimore area. This is a very inventive menu; I would describe it as a "foody stop"; not a main street type of meal. For appetizers, we had the House Smoked Salmon Rillette, the Braised Veal Cheek Ravioli & the Roasted Beet Salad. Really great flavor combinations. For our main courses, we had Stuffed Quail, Seared Tilefish, Roasted Duck Breast and Coriander & Pepper Crusted Tuna. Everything was excellent, although we all agreed that the Tuna was the "winning" dish. Desserts were also really good; the sorbet and the gelato were fresh made and bursting with flavor. We will definitely return. I rated this as "poor" for families with children. This is small restaurant with a bar and limited seating. It is not appropriate for young children and wouldn't be relaxing for you or for those around you.

This was the nearest great restaurant I could find from Johns Hopkins Hospital. Avoid the cake though--it was dry!
