“Good Hotel, Great Staff”
Reviewed November 29, 2011

Well, any visit to Baltimore is not complete until you visit the inner harbor and all it has to offer. This hotel is ideally situated for doing just that. The staff were warm and friendly and were also quite knowledgablle about the historical landmarks and places of interest in the area. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Good service......could be better though..the cleanliness and responsiveness of staff to issues bothering customers should be improved with a view to retaining and sustaining the existing customer base and loyalty as well as attract new customers.

This is by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed at........

The rooms dirty, The Hotel is falling to pieces and the breakfast is what can i say auful when all you feel is dirty.

I was moved rooms twice because the rooms were that bad.

the have 1 maid for around 50 rooms so you can imagine how much they get cleaned.

Once i arrived back from vacation i complained to the rodeway inn brand not the hotel and received a full refund due to my stay!!!

Its official this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed at..... Please stay elsewhere. HONEST

The only good thing about this hotel is location but honestly stay elsewhere.

First of all I would like to thank you for your compliment about our hotel being in a good location, at the same time I am sorry for the inconvinience you had during your stay at the hotel. I would like to inform you that the hotel has only 20 rooms and we have 2 maids working every day. As far as rooms being dirty, I have brought this to my housekeeping manager's attention and has been taken care of. Once agian thank you for taking time to write about our hotel and like to let you know that we value your opinion.

Regards,

Kumar

I stayed for just a night at this hotel in October. I had a late check-in and staff was super friendly and accomodating!

Sleep quality was great, even for a street-facing room. I enjoy the old-time, boutiqe-y feeling of this hotel and really appreciated the effort of staff, however I think the hotel does need to be overhauled a bit.

While the washrooms were "clean", there was no water pressure for the shower and I found a hair on one of my "clean" towels. The rooms themselves were fine, but you could tell they were quite old and not much attention has been given to their upkeep over the years.

Free breakfast downstairs was an added perk, although I didn't take advantage because I was sleeping so soundly. Unfortunately, free wifi is only strong enough on the ground floor.

But for the circumstances (late night after a long day of travel and only staying for the one night), the hotel did its job. However, I'm not entirely sure I'd stay here again as I think you could find something comparable for a cheaper price nearby.

The Rodeway Inn Midtown boasts a central location amid the serenity of Baltimore’s Mount Vernon district; and while most objective travelers would describe this hotel to be quiet and convenient, there are some, many of whom being frequent visitors to this website, who might also describe this hotel as being quirky – for use of a subjective description.

I will be honest: this hotel has seen better days (it was once known as the Abbey Hotel); at close look, there is a basic appearance of being run down at the edges with tattered wallpaper, splotched carpet and battered yard sale furniture; the TV carries only five channels, the dorm room mini-fridge clearly needs defrosting - unless that was frozen wool I saw in the freezer; the ancient low flush toilet seeks attention through an occasional gurgle and the cramped shower is nothing more than upright fiberglass coffin where you must deftly manipulate the handle to achieve any semblance of moderate temperature. And in the morning, after undergoing the gymnastics required in showering themselves, guests can gather in a small cove off the lobby where they may partake in a complementary breakfast of cereal, toasted white bread, airline coffee and waffles.

Yet despite all this, any open minded traveler may still find this little hotel to be bizarrely endearing in that it does not try to be anything else than what it is: an immodest, yet extraordinarily cheap place to stay in one of the city’s more interesting neighborhoods. First, you are one block over from the historic Charles Street and some interesting attractions, including a few wonderful 18th century churches. You can walk to the nation’s original monument to our first President; a few blocks east will bring you to the Maryland Historical Society, where Baltimore’s own Nipper (the dog depicted on the old RCA record label) is touted. A few blocks down Charles Street is the underrated Walters Art Gallery – with free admission. Additionally, the Rodeway Inn is just around the corner from the Centerstage Theater. True, the hotel is a good distance from the Inner Harbor area; however, the Charm City Circulator, Baltimore’s free bus, passes right by the front door and will get you there as soon as traffic allows. This bus also stops at Penn Station should you arrive by train.

That’s about it for the Rodeway Inn Midtown. Now, if you are the type of traveler who insists on valet parking, room service, internet access and warm towel racks, this is not for you. But, if you are of the type who simply wants a convenient and comfortable room that is very gentle on your budget, then this is the place.
