I originally booked this hotel because I had already stayed at a Rodeway Inn in PA and the experience was OK. The Rodeway Inn's staff at Baltimore were much nicer and friendlier than what I have experienced. The room was a nice size and were modestly clean. The bathroom, however, had hair on the floor and in the shower, but I brought it up and it was immediately cleaned. The staff was helpful and although we were late for breakfast (7-10) they still served us coffee and made sure my son had his cereal and juice. I would recommend this hotel to a friend or would stay here again myself.

This hotel is 15 minutes walk far from the Baltimore harbor, in a nice location, near to Mt. Vernon. My room was large, very nice and comfortable with TV, queen size bed, a desk.
The only issue was an alarm ringing every few minutes also in the night, but it was tolerable. Breakfast was very poor. The staff was kind, available in any request, efficient.
A good choice to enjoy Baltimore.

The people in front dest is kind and warm hearted to help. When they found we have food in the room, they brought a refrigerator there when we leave, The big guys who clean the room offer us candies. Thanks, wish you could see this. Also the breakfest is rich, we really enjoy it in every morning. It is a good place to stay, near the light rail, near inner horbor.

We had a horrible night's stay. The room did not feel clean, the electricity and the plumbing both seemed out of code and, to top it off, the windows rattled all night long. We got little to no rest.
The other issue is the parking. We were told that we could park on the street until 9 am without a problem. When we left at 8:30, we found a parking ticket!
On a positive note, the people that worked there were very nice and welcoming.

Trulf valued the friendly staff, convenient location, intimate feel, and overall quality of service provided at this hotel during my recent stay.
Mike;the hotel manager, and Jamal, the night clerk, were both knowledgeable, attentive, and professional in all respects.

We are fair people...we are very cooperative in even the most adverse situations but Rodeway was lacking on so many levels...

Pros:
Location: It IS downtown near Mercy hospital and right in Mt Vernon. Within walking distance to many sites and historic locations.
Breakfast: We hear the waffles are amazing
Room: Room was larger than I expected and the bathrooms were small. The furniture was relatively new. We had a large cieling to knee-high window. There are refrigerators in the rooms.

CONS:
1. There is no dedicated parking and it is in a residential area (brownstones) where permits are required. We drove 3 hrs from Virginia in driving rain and had to walk 3 blocks with our luggage.

2. Has just been taken over by major chain and it does not show. Towels were tattered and dingy, there was a brownish-yellow stain on the bathroom wall. There were splashes of grey liquid on the wall in the shower.

3. We tried 2 open the TV armoire and the knob fell off.

4. The comforter did not smell fresh & clean. There was a strong odor of incense throughout the halls and rooms.

If you are on a budget and absolutely have to be downtown and need just a basic experience with free breakfast~fine. If you can spring for another location, do so.

The front desk clerk offered us a different room but our comfort and expectations had been completely ravaged! The clerk ASSURED us that we would not receive a refund despite our disappointment. That was about 2 hours ago. We are now at a lovely Holiday Inn for $10 more and we will be calling the corporate customer care!

As a frequent traveler to Baltimore, my first choice in hotel accommodations is the Rodeway Inn. Its’ convenient downtown location at 723 St. Paul Street puts me within an easy commute of many of Baltimore’s finest attractions. The economical room price is a big plus and the friendly and helpful staff always makes my stays pleasant.
