My wife and I just bought season tickets for the 2013/2014 season, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The eclectic mixture of theatrical presentations have been utterly engaging,, ranging from an on-stage production of the Marx Bros' "Animal Crackers" to the two man drama, "Stones in his Pockets". The venue is made up of two theaters: the Pearlstone and the smaller Head Theater. Both are excellent, with the right amount of intimacy.

The staff is both competent and accommodating, with a friendly attitude.

We have seen 3 shows here this year (2 dates, 1 with family), and have enjoyed every experience. The acting is always superb, the venue intimate, and the shows creative and slightly edgy. My favorite thing about this theater is that it attracts a diverse audience. Even if you are not the usual theater-goer, I think you would feel comfortable here.

My sisters-in-law and I have subscribed to our second season say Center Stage and it never disappoints. It is one of the best theater values out there. Always excellent acting and many times enjoyable, thought provoking plays. It is a great way to enjoy an evening and support the Arts.

If you like drama , black shows that are a comment on black America and good acting then this is a perfect place to go. A bit too black for me; needs a more varied selection of shows.

My wife and I have been subscribers for nearly 30 years. We very much enjoy the variety of plays presented during a season despite the occasional clunker, which is not surprising given the efforts made to showcase new playwrights. The quality suffered during the transition to a new artistic director, but he seems to be getting his feet under him.

The main theatre is intimate and comfortable and is a great place to watch a play. I cannot say as much for the upstairs theatre (the Head theatre). When it first opened (about 10 15 years ago?), it was used as an occasional venue for unusual performances, such as cabaret-style presentations. For the past couple years, it has been used for nearly half of the performances and the stage setting has been more traditional. This is not acceptable, given the high cost of tickets. The venue is subject to extraneous noises, the seats are uncomfortable and views of the stage are often obstructed by people sitting in front of you (even if you have some of the "best" seats) because the seats in the orchestra section are not set up on a grade.
