“Lovely Bed & Breakfast Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

My husband and I decided to do a weekend getaway and went to Wilson House. What a great experience that was! And, it was our first b&b! We love that historical house. From the time we got there, until the time we left we were treated extremely well. The Wilson room was soooo charming. The location was fantastic. It was only 10 minutes away from the Harbor, and close enough to anyplace else we wanted to go.

Guy was a darling. He was so knowledgable about the Baltimore area and t;s history. He was gracious enough to take us for a tour of his Reservoir Hill neighborhood because he realized we were interested in the properties in the area. Who else would do that! Clelia made us delicious breakfasts each morning consisting of fresh fruits, waffles, french toast and the like. And, to top it off, we were even served on China and crystal. What a treat!

We definitely recommend going to Wilson House if you plan to visit Baltimore. Staying there really topped off our mini vacation. We'll definitely go back.

Room Tip: The Wilson Room is spacious, and has its own bath.

We stayed here for one evening for graduation from Johns Hopkins - it was beautiful! We stayed in the Purple Room and the Wilson Room - both were great with separate bathrooms. The location was ideal, it was just a few minutes from campus and just a few minutes from downtown Baltimore!

We just stayed at the Wilson House for the third time, as a vacation extender to break up our drive back to NYC from NC. We first stayed there two years ago when we were in Baltimore for a wedding, and returned 6 weeks later with friends to attend a rally in DC. We came upon it by Google search, and the photos just don't do it justice, it has so much character. There are so many neat things to look at from their world travels, I love to wander each floor. We stay in the Peacock Room which is the king-sized master suite with a sitting room and huge walk-in closet. This time, we had our 10 month-old baby with us, and Clelia made sure we had everything we needed. She provided a great mini-crib, a high-chair, and for breakfast brought Henri a banana, cheerios, and a bib. She is awesome with babies. He had so much room to crawl around our huge suite, and was mesmerized by all the colors on the walls! This room is overlooking 83, the AC drowns out most sound during hot months, and when we stayed there off season we used one of the two fans. I often travel with my own white-noise machine as I am pretty sensitive to noise, but we don't really notice it here. We missed Guy this time, but love his company, he has many stories to tell about their treasures. This is the type of place we will visit at least every other year as we enjoy a Baltimore weekend away from NYC and are so comfortable here.

We feel we lucked into this B&B. A charming house, almost a little museum in itself. We were warmly welcomed by Guy. Clelia's breakfasts are beautiful. Luscious fresh fruit, and everything so prettily presented. Very special pancakes, very special waffles--and terrific coffee! There are comfortable common spaces for sitting, and Guy and Clelia were very generous about letting us "tour" the kitchen and pantry. Interesting, lively conversation with them. They gave us good advice and good directions. And there is lots of convenient parking right next to the B&B. There was nothing they could do about the heat outside (over 95), but everything else was perfect. Our stay was, despite the heat, superb.

Room Tip: We were initially sorry that the Wilson Room was not available. But the Flower Room turned out to b...

We were in Baltimore for a weekend visit and cycling. The Wilson House was a little bit outside the Inner Harbor area but it was a fantastic place to stay. The house is beautifully decorated and very spacious. The innkeepers, Guy and Clelia were terrific hosts. Guy was very knowledgeable of Baltimore and offered interesting tips and places to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with him over wine and cheese. Breakfast was not only delicious but the presentation was beautiful. It is obvious they both go to great lengths to make your stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: All the rooms were nice and spacious with all the little extras you always wish were there. They th...

Wilson House exemplified the Charm City's attitude from the time I booked a reservation until departure. After reserving the master suite (online) I received a message from Guy stating that he would be happy to meet us at the train station. Guy's directions for taking the light rail from the airport were clear & precise. The house is a lovely Queen Anne just above the Mt. Vernon district. Guy, and his wife, Celia, have worked hard to restore the house to its original beauty. Attention to such details as architectural accents, wallpapers, antique furnishings and light fixtures, paintings, etc. are evident. We were immediately made to feel welcome.
Each morning we were served a large breakfast, prepared by Celia and her mother, on china. I enjoyed meeting other guests at the table and sharing insights on Baltimore. In the afternoon a snack and glass of wine are provided. When not busy, Guy enjoys discussing a variety of topics of interest to his guests. He is knowledgeable on many subjects. In the evening, Guy offered us rides to the restaurant. Celia and Guy could not be more gracious and helpful.
The B&B's surrounding neighborhood is full of lovely Victorian houses and parks. MICA is easily reached on foot in about 5 minutes. Light Rail is also 5 minutes away. The train station is a 15 minute walk. In April I found that taxicabs were plentiful and prompt. Guy can recommend good nearby restaurants. I especially enjoyed City Cafe, Milk & Honey Market and Soups On.
I highly recommend a visit to the Walters Art Museum (600 N. Charles St.) during your stay. It is open on Wed. thru Sun. and admission is free. This museum has extensive holdings and displays. It takes more than one visit to see everything.
The Master Suite is quite spacious: consisting of a large bedroom, large sitting room (with sofa bed), and private bath. Our suite was tastefully appointed with period furnishings and kept spotless. Linens were renewed daily. The neighborhood (even with the nearby expressway) was quiet. The bed and sofabed were very comfortable. Although chilly when I visited, the house was kept cozy.
Wilson House is a delightful place to stay and very affordable compared to similar B&Bs.

If you like bed and breakfasts—which I do—you will enjoy Wilson House tremendously. It is clean, quiet and attractively furnished with an inviting feeling—and terrific breakfasts—run by top-notch innkeepers. Clelia and Guy are highly professional, lovely and fascinating—she’s from Peru and he’s a stellar scientist. I appreciate their attention to detail and organization, plus, I like the warm, cozy feeling I get staying in their home. Their gracious Queen Anne Victorian home is filled with antiques and memorabilia from travels around the world.

Breakfast includes two courses, served on china. The delicious breakfasts have included a large plate of fresh fruit and yogurt with warm honey, followed by eggs and bacon or heart-shaped whole wheat pancakes with sausages.

Clelia and Guy are fabulous hosts who do whatever they can to be helpful and accommodating. For example, on my first visit there, I needed to drive to a nearby location for which there are no simple directions—so, Clelia drove her car and led me to the place! That’s what I call going above and beyond the call of duty!

Additionally, the location is a huge draw for me. (The Wilson House is 3-5 minutes away from MICA which I visit once or twice a year.)

Just fyi: There is the hum of a nearby freeway—though it is quiet enough not to be disturbing. There is no elevator, which would only be problematic if you could not walk up stairs—though I don’t know if there are any bedrooms on the first floor. There doesn’t appear to be any, so you’d have to ask about that.

Thus far, I’ve stayed at Wilson House three times in the past year, and will most definitely return. I recommend it most highly!
