Owner description: A Smithsonian affiliate, the museum is Maryland's largest African American museum. Besides rotating exhibitions, enjoy live musical performances from gospel jazz to steel drums. Films in our theater have enriched audiences on the history of soul food, civil rights, and more. For families, programs like art workshops and living history bring our mission to life. Lectures and our resource center enrich what you'll find in our permanent collection. We also nourish the body with the best soul food in Baltimore at our museum cafe. This museum was beautiful. Loved the lay out the reviews of the art and movies played to introduce before proceeding through. A really great time and very worthwhile the visit.

“Great Baltimore Find”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

The Reginald Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture is a real find for those visiting Baltimore. There is convenient low cost parking $6 directly across the street from the outstanding museum whose multimedia exhibits bring to life the African American experience in Baltimore. On a recent visit we saw the special exhibit on the AFRO newspapers that brought back memories of our childhood in Philadelphia. I strongly recommend this museum

“Best City African American Museum I've Ever Been To”
Reviewed April 4, 2012

Better than Philly, Chicago or Boston . . . this is a great museum - compelling displays, artifacts, multi media, interactive, great professional lighting . . . on the same city block as the flag museum which together will make you both inspired and patriotic . . .
