“Reputation doesn't live up to expectations”
Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

Roy's has a long standing reputation as a Hawaiian fusion restaurant. Unfortunately, having poke and mahi mahi on the menu and infusing a couple drinks with pineapple does not a Hawaiian restaurant make. First, the restaurant is incredibly loud. So much so that a normal conversation is difficult on the Saturday night we dined there. The food is well prepared and tasty, but the portions are rather small. The food is also impeccably fresh. However at an average of $28 - $30 for entrees, the value just didn't seem to be there. The service was flawless. I think as a special occasion restaurant Roy's would be OK but not someplace to go for a regular night out.

“Great food but a bit loud and noisy”
Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

Had a yummy dinner with 4 work colleagues and the food was superb ! If you are in a group definitely order the sampler appetizer plate as you will love each one! While the food was great, the place can be quite loud, so don't go here for an intimate conversation as you won't be able to hear the other people speaking.
Our waiter was good at suggesting appetizers /wine but when it came to dessert he didn't inform us that each dessert was for one person , so we split it between the 5 of us-which in the end was fine ...but you think he would have said "you might want to order more". Other than that it was a good experience and I will be back.

“Aloha Hour A Fun Way To Start A Harbor East Weekend”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

My husband and I spent the weekend in Baltimore - and started out at Roy's Aloha Hour on Friday night just after we arrived and checked in to our hotel. It was a great way to start the weekend! The Aloha Hour runs from 4:30-6:30pm and you can sit at the bar or at the chef's table which we chose - it was really fun to watch chefs preparing sushi and other appetizers. The Aloha Hour has a great drinks menu with a nice variety of wine at $6 per glass and great local beers at $3. However, there is a special drinks menu which I opted for with a Hummingbird - St. Germain Elderflower liqueur with sparkling wine and seltzer. Served with some fresh strawberries and blueberries it was a great drink for and end of summer Friday evening. My husband had a few glasses of one of their merlot selections and enjoy it. Appetizers were good too and we made a light dinner out of several selections - spicy tuna sushi and a roll with avocado and cream cheese, lobster potstickers and a pair of sliders with sweet potato fries dusted with fresh parmesan and parsley. Appetizers are generous - although the dining room beckons as well. After our Happy Hour we walked around Harbor East by the water and had a great evening! We will definitely return the next time we stay in Harbor East!

“Great service and food!”
Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

I have been here several times for dinner and happy hour. The food is great. If you have a special occasion, they will do their best to make it special. I love their happy hour! Five dollar drinks and food. You really can't beat that. One of my favorites!
