“Our go to place for Southwest Asian food.”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

If you like Nepalese and/or Indian food, this place is nice and friendly. Went to the weekend buffet yesterday; great variety of dishes [even momo] and inexpensive! Admittedly, a bit crowded, but for obvious reasons.

“Our favorite neighborhood delivery place”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

We like to order delivery from Kumari. My husband and I typically order one of the rice dishes and a vegetable dish to share, perhaps with an order of some type of naan. The chicken biryani, butter chicken, and vegetables pasanda are all delicious. We ordered with friends last night who had the lamb vindaloo, chicken vindaloo and tandoori chicken. Our friends really enjoyed everything. I have eaten in the restaurant once many moons ago, and remember the service and ambiance both being pleasant. Delivery prices seem a bit high, however portions are quite generous and the quality of the food is on par with the price.

“Excellent lunch buffet!”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

I stopped in to Kumari with friends on a Saturday afternoon for the lunch buffet. There were plenty of flavorful options, vegetarian and non-vegetarian alike. I haven't had dinner there but I can imagine that it's just as good as the afternoon spread. This restaurant offers an exceptional value (about $11 for the buffet) and if you're in the Mt Vernon area, I suggest stopping in.

“Great lunch buffet selection”
Reviewed January 1, 2012

Kumari offers a great selection of dishes from Nepal and northern India providing tastes from spicy to sweet. Unfortunately, preparation tends to be uneven. Winners include chicken momo, a sweet cucumber salad, and rice pancakes.

The price is a dollar or 2 under the norm. Service is acceptable.

“No reason to go anywhere else for great Indian and Nepalese dishes!”
Reviewed November 14, 2011

My husband and I eat here all the time. It is a wonderful place for vegetarians. Service is impeccable. Their dining rooms are cozy and romantic. As far as lunches go you simply can't beat their all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. The selection changes daily and but they always have plenty of vegetarian options (and great food for omnivores!) but they always have their delightful Nepalese tea. It will warm you up and put a smile on your face! I highly recommend giving this place a try!
