“guaranteed delightful evening”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

We have been going to Petit Louis for years, and can say it just gets better and better.
Last visit was for our anniversary and we asked for a quiet table away from the more lively part of the restaurant which is just what we got - along with delicious food and helpful obliging service.
The Maitre D. and Sommelier are genuinely charming. We shared an endive salad with mustard dressing, followed by perfectly cooked golden sweetbreads and salmon and lentil entrees.
Our advised wine was perfect for our dishes.
Yes! the noise level can get high, but this does have the feel and ambience of a Parisian Bistro.

If you're a out-of-towner, you might not know that the same team has "Johnny's" just round the corner, and I would choose Petit Louis (hands down) Johnny's still needs some stream-lining which Petit Louis has achieved.

“Very good French food”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Swiss chard tart made for a great appetizer; it is similar to a quiche and very tasty. Trout almondine was very well-prepared and delicious. Duck confit was cooked to perfection. Cheese tray for a dessert option carried a large variety of cheeses, everything from mild and odorless to pungent and extremely flavorful. Wine list is impressive. Seating can be a bit congested; feels like they have a few too many tables crammed in.

“Generally fine: but can be hit or miss”
Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

We come here occasionally and it is a place for locals so the food is generally good - and a place to see and be seen in a casual/comfortable atmosphere.

One of us had the duck - which was fine. The other had the ribs special - now that was 50% plus fat (not edible). And the portions are not huge so it ended up being a very small meal.

Dessert: cream brûlée very good. Profiteroles huge: enough for two people. Disappointing that instead of the cream, they serve ice cream in each one.

Great service, nice people, cozy atmosphere. Just hit or miss every once in a while.

“Great dining experience”

Loved Petit Louis! We had an amazing meal and were seated right in front of the fireplace. The food and service were fabulous. The Maitre'd Patrick was wonderful, friendly and accomodating. I would highly recommend Petit Louis Bistro!

“laissez les bon temps rouler!”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

This little restaurant, tucked away in well-heeled Roland Park is like walking into a Parisian bistro. It's loud when there's a full house, but it's just part of the ambiance. This was always a go-to place for anniversaries and birthdays. (MY partner always called it "Frenchy's!) Try the escargot. Try the cassoulet. Well, try just about anything. Caution: no bargain fare. It's a bit on the pricey side. Still, WORTH IT!
