Ze Mean Bean Cafe has been in Baltimore for years and i've never been tempted to try it because of the odd name. If it were Cafe Budapest or Cafe Prague it would be more alluring.
That said, the restaurant is fabulous, warm and cozy like the inside of a jewel box! It is small and reminds me a bit of the fine small places in Paris. It seats about 24 plus a bar. Their
Pierogies are bites of heaven, and although i had never wanted to taste borsht, it too was
delicious. The cost is reason $14-18 for dinners in the evening, stuffed cabbage, beef goulash.
Perhaps unfamiliar to you, this food is solid comfort! The service was attentive and the night
we were there, there was an accordian playing softly. Ummmm!!!
