Food is fantastic! Spot on every time I have been. The space is a bit loud when the crowd is large. Service is always excellent.

Everything was fabulous. We had the fried green tomatoes and the free range chicken. It was delicious. The restaurant had a great energy but not too over crowded, our server, Amelia was fantastic! Only thing is that I wish I had room for dessert. I'll be coming back here soon!

Great atmosphere for lunch with colleagues or friends. The food is impressive with a great menu that includes some vegetarian selections. The crab cakes were perfectly seasoned with an option to order one if you are in for lunch. My friend really enjoyed the Moroccan lamb burger which was aromatic accompanied by a great little salad of fresh feta, tomatoes and cucumbers.

The atmosphere was great, lively but not imposing. The staff was attentive and helpful finding us a "quiet" table. Outside tables were full so you might need to call ahead to see if you can reserve one.

Definitely worth trying.

Loved, Loved, Loved the City Café. Yes, it was expensive but every Pear Martini was exquisite. And our waiter had us in stiches the entire lunch with his honest comments on Baltimore and everything in general. The shrimp burger was unexpectedly delectable and my brother in law had the Moroccan Lamb Burger that he raved about. The atmosphere was cosmopolitan and sleek. Would absolutely return.

It is always nice to surprise someone living in an area by making a reservation at a neighborhood restaurant that they had not heard of (several in our party googled the place and couldn’t believe they had missed this one). It is even better when the restaurant turns out to be outstanding!
The Mount Vernon neighborhood is definitely on the way up when one finds restaurants like this. City Café was packed for Sunday brunch and surprisingly loud (sometimes making it hard to hear people at the table). The setting was industrial modern, and the staff was quite welcoming. The brunch menu was outstanding and featured many locally sourced items – it was tough to decide what to have. Our party of six ordered a wide variety of items. The portions were large but, by the end of our meal, very little was left on the plates and everyone liked their dishes. Among the dishes ordered: Steak and eggs, the hangover burger, and the fried chicken and biscuits. Warm cinnamon buns were also provided.
I suspect that we’ll be back even with all the new and established restaurants in this great neighborhood!
Note: Our party was seated upstairs in the balcony. In the future, I will ask to be on the main floor which appeared brighter lit/sunnier and perhaps has better acoustics than the upstairs. Accordingly, I recommend requesting a main floor table when making a reservation.
