My wife and I were in Baltimore for a few days over the New Years holiday and decided to have dinner at Soto Sopra on New Years Eve. We made reservations for 6:00pm as we had plans for later in the evening.

From the moment we entered the restaurant we were enchanted by the ambiance and things only got better from there. The staff could not have been more helpful and considerate. Even though the restaurant was busy our waiter took the time to explain the creative menu and make some very good recommendations. He took the time to go speak with the chef in order to tailor our appetizer, main order and wine selection in a way that made it extremely enjoyable for us. I've never seen a wait staff be more attentive and caring.

The meal and our dining experience was one of the best we have had. My wife and I both felt that we could not have selected a better place for dinner that evening. Sotto Sopra was a little more expensive than some other Italian restaurants but it was worth every penny to us that evening. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent Italian restaurant on north Charles.
Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Good
choices for dinner -- I chose the fettuccine
con ragu di ossobucco. The whole branzino
looked amazing. Red wine from Tuscany was
outstanding! Service was quite good.

We waited over an hour to be seated. WE HAD A RESERVATION!! The manager was frazzled and unorganized. The hostess looked as though she could cry at any minute. Worst of all, food was so so and they didn't even acknowledge our anniversary. So much for a special night. Never again. 7:00 reservation and we left at 10:30. The worst experience in years.

My husband and I were on an overnight in Baltimore and decided to dine here because we both love all Italian cuisines and it was close to our hotel. What a great choice! The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely - high ceilings, beautiful gilt framed mirrors and column moldings and colorful murals. My husband had the pork osso buco which our server, Irina, highly recommended. It was fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth incredible. My grouper had a pumpkin sauce and the most delicious ricotta gnocchi to accompany it - just yummy. The dining experience was enhanced by our wonderful server, Irina, who is truly an asset to this fine restaurant. This was our first visit to Baltimore in many years, but if we return, we will happily dine here again.
