The only tables for eight are in the bar area, which is fun but noisy (“energetic” some say). The food was good – the calamari appetizers fresh and flavorful, not chewy. The fritto misto consisted of fresh veggies, fried in a light batter and served with a creamy sauce on the side. It was all right; I could do without the sauce, which was too rich. The good duck pizza was unusual and slightly sweet (must be the fig-onion jam). The portions are generous, and the service very friendly and reasonably efficient, given that the place was packed. The beer was great: the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter was deep and slightly sweet; the Jailbreak, Van Dammit was even better.

This is a winning combination. Skip the pizza and go straight to the delicious appetizers such as the deep fried chick peas, fried green tomatoes and vegetable platter. They have an awesome selection of local brews as well.

We made a reservation in advance for a party of 5 several days in advance and confirmed it by phone. We were shown to a counter-height table for 8 with stools in the bar. I expressed strongly to the young woman who seated us the fact that we had made a reservation in advance and did not want to seat in the bar, and she told us we would have had to state in advance which specific restaurant section we wanted to sit in. Even though I pointed out there was a nice table set for 5 on the patio, she wouldn't move us.
As expected, the atmosphere was very loud. As we left, we saw they'd put 2 people at the table for 5 I'd hoped to get.
Great food, but a pretty bad attitude toward patrons.

Met the family at Birroteca for dinner the other day. We were a party of 10 and really enjoyed the place. Half the family is really interested in Beer, the rest of the family was interested in unusual food. So this place suits just about everyone. All of what was served was mostly family style, so we passed to the left and enjoyed a taste of many items on the menu. We really liked that it was local, organic. We started with a bunch of bruschetta and meatball appetizers. We then ordered a couple of pizzas that were really good! right out of the woodfired stover. Grandma ordered the risotto which we all agreed was fabulous. We had the Steak special that was really cooked perfectly. They had all kinds of salad that we really wanted to try, but only tried one. Finally, we all had some amazing desserts: zeppole (excellent), olive oil ice cream that was SO good, and more. With all of this, drinks, and being there 2.5 hours -- I didn't think the bill was too bad at $375. However one cautionary note: we had one picky kid with us! He wanted a soda -- they don't carry Pepsi or Coke, but an all-natural cola variety. And they don't have peperoni pizza -- they put some type of salami on it -- but it was not peperoni -- further they don't have pizza sauce on their pizzas. I'm afraid that kid was a bit disappointed. But NOT SO the rest of us.

A really hip and really interesting place to eat. We were thinking that all the waitstaff has to show their tattoos in order to get hired- that being said, the waitstaff is outstanding, friendly and their ink is really good- Now, for the food- great combinations, totally vegetarian friendly, but also lots of good carnivore selections too- and italian flavor to it, but not easy Little Italy but good, interesting well thought out stuff. Great beer selection as well.
