a converted old YMCA building in "Old Town". Renovation done well-spacious rooms, soothing light gray carpeting and walls of corridors, well equipped fitness center. very helpful front desk staff, though need 1-2 more staff at high check-in times. room staff do an excellent job cleaning, and sensitive to coming in to clean only when customers are out. walking distance to art museum, washington monument, some excellent restaurants.

down sides-rooms near the street are noise during heavy traffic, car park inconvenient across a busy street, "restaurant" is more like an upgrade coffee shop (and a la carte for breakfast), closets are too small for two people's hangings, no place to store luggage.

Before I begin my review I always like to provide a relative high score and so I choose my words carefully as I write a review which is not perfect. The positive, the hotel is very pretty, nice renovation and it seems everything was thought of from the chandelier, to the books, to the local artists on the walls. The other positive aspect is the parking across the street for $5 a day. Now the downside, I would be hoping that IHG Indigo chain would have better trained personal in the front desk. When we arrived we weren't greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. That vibe of doing us a favor remained throughout our visit, it could also be that they are all just tired. Although a family of 4 and a baby we got a small room. We asked to replace it and they were kind enough to provide us with a larger room but the downside, it wasn't cleaned properly. To their defense they cleaned it quickly. Although our rate includes breakfast they insisted we are not entitled to and after the family we traveled with called IHG to complain, the front-desk understood we are supposed to get it but only for two people out of the four. The staff at the restaurant were always nice and friendly and there is a good vibe there and the food is descent. The area around the hotel feels more or less safe although you would see people sleeping on the street right across the hotel as you exit the parking. I have to admit they did try and correct their earlier mistakes but the initial bad taste remains, especially as this was a family vacation and I wanted everything to be perfect.

Room tip: The rooms with an even number are the larger ones and cost the same.

We appreciate your candid feedback of your stay. We are happy to know you liked the interior of our hotel. However, I am sorry for the inconvenience you experienced with the breakfast and with the Front Desk service. We stayed here to be close to the hospital during a family emergency, but did not imagine that our stay would be so relaxing! The view of the city was nice, and we could see the historic buildings all around us from our window. The room service staff was accommodating and timely. This was in spite of being warned that room service would be limited due to the snow storm. The hotel restaurant was very quaint, and food was delicious. We were always able to have the staff hail us a cab anytime we needed one. Spacious, efficient, and at a great price. The only thing we could possibly ask for is strawberry jam with breakfast!

Room tip: Corner rooms are spacious and airy.

There are many great aspects to this hotel. Free wifi, great restaurant in the lobby that has room service, spacious rooms, keurig in room, fitness center, Aveda bath products, small area where you can buy to-go snacks and drinks in the lobby. Guest services were very helpful with directions. I also forgot a shaving razor and they had a razor blade and shaving cream to my room in less than 5 minutes. Cheap parking garage across the street was an awesome bonus. Will absolutely be back!

We traveled to Baltimore for a wedding and selected this hotel for location to the venue. We are usual Marriott and Hilton guests, but this hotel was really a gem. it has been renovated with updated rooms, rather spacious for downtown. It is close to a large variety of eateries and sites, including the Walters Museum of Art just in the next block. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, rooms were clean and quiet. We ended up eating most of our meals at this hotel because of our minimal time, but the food was excellent with nice atmosphere. The Thursday evening we were entertained by a very enjoyable local jazz group. The crab sliders, salads, and breakfast options were all quite good. Would definitely consider this spot for our next trip to Baltimore.
