Absolutely loved this hotel. Here's why:

Parking was a breeze. The hotel lays claim to an inexpensive parking garage right across the street--making it unnecessary to need to park anywhere else. We had no problems finding a spot and payment was managed with a chip at the front desk. Super easy.

Charming lobby.
The hotel lobby is delightfully decorated and includes seating, the front desk area, and a restaurant. The feel is open and airy and did not disappoint.

Clean and spacious room.
We loved our room. From the charming decor to the hospitable details and finer accoutrements (Keurig coffee and tea products, Aveda shampoo/conditioner) we were pleased all around. The shower controls took some getting used to, and finding a place to hang wet towels was a bit of a challenge, but this is our only minor complaint. The room was lovely, bright, and roomy. The chair and ottoman were actually comfortable to sit in. We enjoyed a decent view of some older buildings across the street from the large, light-filled windows, and despite where the hotel was located...it was actually very quiet.

Exceptional value.
We really lucked out with a bargain rate from Hotwire, even though the wedding party had secured for us a deep discount. We would expect to pay $200+ a night for similar accommodations, but only ended up paying $135, which seemed like a steal. We would definitely come back to Hotel Indigo.

RoadWarriorZoro,

Thank you so much for the Awesome Review of Hotel Indigo Baltimore. I really appreciate your feedback.

There are just over 100 Hotel Indigo's worldwide, and no two Hotel Indigo's are alike. We inspired by the local neighborhoods in which we reside. Thanks for suggesting our great location and fantastic neighborhood. It is a really cool place, we agree!

I arrived at the Hotel Indigo in Baltimore to find out that an error had been made by the third-party booking agent (Hotwire) through which I made my reservation. The manager (African-American woman at the front desk) quickly informed me that there was nothing that could be done and told me to contact Hotwire. I contacted Hotwire and was told that the manager should be able to assist me. The manager was completely unwilling to help in anyway (other than to charge me again for a room I already paid for). A Hotwire representative even contacted the manager and she still was unmoved. I was left stranded with no room in a strange city late at night. I've never seen such a poor approach to customer service and guest relations. I would recommend that you locate a hotel where you will be treated with common courtesy if any errors occur with your reservation.

TravelWeary,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, I am Jason Curtis, General Manager of the Hotel Indigo.

First, I want to apologize for the lack of compassion from someone at the front desk. This is extremely unusual for our team to not be compassionate or to go above and beyond to assist whenever possible. I'd really like to learn more about your experience. If you can contact me directly, I'd be most thankful.

Again, I am sincerely sorry and hope to hear from you soon.

We arrived at 5:30pm. The front desk said rooms would not be ready for 15-20 minutes and that someone would bring over the keys if we waited in the lounge. After 30 minutes of watching numerous groups get their keys, I asked for an update. The 2 concierge women kept brushing me off and finally snapped back when I asked for an estimate on how much longer we'd have to wait. One of them then said that they cannot guarantee an estimated wait time. When I reminded them that they said it would only take 15-20 minutes, they thoroughly denied any recollection of that, even though everyone in my group of 3 heard them. If they didn't give us an estimate, we wouldn't have stayed and would have left for dinner!

After waiting over 45 minutes, which should have been a major red flag, we finally got the keys and a halfway reluctant apology. I didn't want to make things worse, so I just said thanks and went upstairs. The elevators and hallway smelled musty. The room was ice old, even at 75 degrees, and the most bizarre part was the sliding door to the bathroom, which had gaps on both sides that you can see into and the door did not lock. Thankfully, I was sharing the room with a friend that I trust. The fridge had ice frozen all over the shelves, and the pillows were square and half the size of a normal pillow, pretty uncomfortable since you couldn't turn at night without falling into the crevice of 2 square pillows.

At checkout, I was told that my account would be credited 2,000 points for the check-in inconvenience and of course, I only received 600 points. Thankfully, I booked this stay with points, but I wouldn't come back here if they paid for my entire stay. IHG should feel ashamed to associate themselves with this particular hotel.

Room tip: Don't stay here

Irisyung,

First, let me apologize for the unacceptable wait time you had for your room. Check in time is 4pm and there is no reason you should have had a delay.

I am sorry you had less than professional service from our front desk. This is very unusual for our hotel and I'd like to learn more about your experience. Can you contact me directly at the hotel?

I want to make certain you get your IHG Rewards points credited, as promised and review what transpired so that we can improve.

Thank you again for staying with Hotel Indigo. I promise this experience is not typical and if you return, you'll get the service that we're known for.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.

I really like Hotel Indigo. It's close to the downtown/harbor area without the crazy price. The front desk was really nice and the rooms are clean. It looks very new still. There is no parking but there's a parking garage across the street and available street parking if you're there on the weekends.
