Description: Classic Casual Dining: Phillips' new Baltimore location is an exciting and easy blend of vintage and modern, with a nod to the longstanding tradition of Phillips restaurants. Phillips at the Power Plant sits directly on the water, just a few steps away from the old Light Street Pavilion location, in the iconic renovated Power Plant industrial building. The innovative redesign of the interior by Carl Myers and Marcie DeLaRosa shows off gleaming, rich woods and jewel toned stained glass fixtures, distressed finishes and antiqued mirrors juxtaposed with a modern, open kitchen.

Come to Maryland, go for seafood, and people will tell you Phillips. It's good. We had crab cakes, crab soup, etc, but if you ask locals, you might be able to get something a little less 'chainy.' On the other hand, this is a great place to get something to compare all the rest of the places to. Cream of Crab soup was very good, and it was our first crab cake in years, so it was awesome. But through our time here, we sampled more local places that were spicier, not necessarily as expensive and definitely felt like they were trying harder.

“100 Years of Seafood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2014

Upon arriving at Phillips Seafood Restaurant located facing Baltimore's Inner Harbor, my wife and I learned that 2014 marks the 100th anniversary at Phillips. Apparently all that cooking experience resulted in our scrumptious lunch of fish n' chips and Crabcake Reuben. Everything was cooked to perfection. The crabcake ingredients were expertly blended and were served in traditional Reuben sandwich style. In the fish n chips dish, the fish was wonderfully fresh. The breading was delicious too... and cooked perfectly... not oily or mushy... but crisp and crunchy. We sat outside on the patio and did some people watching as we enjoyed our lunch.

“Good food but miss the old location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2014

I took an old High School friend to Philips to celebrate her recovery from a major stroke. I've always loved Philips and go there whenever I'm in Baltimore and am able to visit the harbor. We were greeted quickly and seated right away. The place was shockingly empty. We both ordered a crab cake sandwich which were just as good as I had remembered.

This was my first time eating in their new location. Maybe I'm old school or just nostalgic but I really liked the old location. Some people have called it dated but it had a elegant feel with a Victorian flair. One of the best part is you could see sunlight from almost anywhere in the restaurant. The new location is very beautiful, very modern, very edgy... but it lacks soul. It lacks history and the feel of a waterfront location. I understand that some problems with their contract lead them to move across the harbor, but I for one feel like it is a shame.
