I don't get the hype.

This is overrated and overpriced coffee. Minimal seating and not too friendly staff...

It has a reputation of being the best coffeehouse in Baltimore but on the day of my visit I had an average regular espresso and average decaf Americano that did not inspire me to return. One must take into account that these things depend upon the barista, the espresso machine settings, and the weather, so it is largely a matter of 'luck of the draw'. As they say: your experiences may differ (YMMV).

I stopped here on a whim while waiting to meet a friend for dinner. What a treat! My hot tea was delicious, and I was extremely impressed by the staff knowledge of the tea varieties and the fact that they steeped it for me! Spro's location is adorable, and easily convenient to all of the cute little shops of Hamden. Thoroughly enjoyable!

This tiny coffee house on the Avenue in Hamden has a couple of tables, a few dynamite pastries (try the nutella hazelnut scone, the pain au chocolat or the tender, tasty raisin bun) and a big menu of coffee your way. For a takeaway cup while strolling through the nearby shops or a long talk over a tiny espresso, it's the perfect choice. Peruse the wall of coffee related items for sale while waiting for your skinny latte.

What a great place for coffee! Located in the middle of everything on 36th street in Hampden, Spro is exactly what you want and expect a coffee house to be. It's small with a few tables populated by easy going people looking to relax and sip some coffee. Spro has a ton of drink options to choose from, ranging from exotic beans and blends to different roasting methods. I had the Cohorsil Cerra Azul from Honduras which was absolutely delicious, full-bodied, and brewed to perfection. My friend had a cappuccino with skim milk which was equally delicious. It was even complete with a foam design on top, just like in magazines! Prices range from $2.50- $9.00 a cup. My blend was $2.50, which is comparable to major premium coffee chains in price, but the coffee itself was sooooo much better! They offer some treats; we had a yummy vegan pumpkin cookie. Word has it that they are going to offer more food soon. As for now, I highly recommend stopping by and getting yourself some amazing coffee!
