I love this area. It’s affordable and quirky. Just don’t walk in the alley ways after 12 midnights. Rodents will be out. Otherwise lovely lovely location for everything: The renovated Parkway Theater, The renovated Charles theatre and the amazing Walters art gallery. The Poet restaurant was also okay during restaurant week. I’ve stayed in this area 2 years/2 summers in a row. Location, safety, Location! Oh and Artscape is in the heart of mt Vernon and Boltin Hill. Farmers market has n Sunday under the 83 bridge is perfect 7am-12 noon!!!! Get the mango sticker rice and fresh honey sticks from the Bee keepers.

Mt. Vernon is the ne plus ultra of neighborhoods in Charm City. The architecture is sublime, the history fascinating, the beauty overwhelming. Stroll along the squares, both Mt. Vernon Square and the perpendicular Washington Place, climb the Washington Monument (first in the country!) for breathtaking views of the city, and whatever you do, don't miss the magnificent Peabody Library, always open to the public.

Enjoyed walking in this leafy pleasant old neighborhood. The architecture was fascinating, the modest gardens of the homes interesting, the genteel restoration of the neighborhood is rewarding to see.

I live in Baltimore and spend lots of time in Mount Vernon. I meet friends for coffee, drinks, or dinner, or simply walk around the neighborhood on a nice day. Street parking is available, but can be hard to find in the evening. Beautiful architecture, green areas, and nice cafes. Highly recommend!
