“Wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

I attended a conference here. The property is wonderful. There is a lot of open space with seating inside and out, where you can just sit down and enjoy the view. Had a chance to take a guided tour of the property and learned the history of the place which was fascinating. We ate all our meals at the restaurants located on the property and had excellent meals. Plenty of places to choose from. Spent an evening in the cellar bar and that was fun. Originally was a speakeasy. Lots of history and character. Plenty of things for an entire family to do. Would go again and stay longer.

This conference center and hotel ,owned by Johns Hopkins University and managed by Aramark is located on beautifully landscaped grounds in the Mount Washington neighborhood in North Baltimore. It has a historic wing, the Octagon House, which now houses suites for conference goers, and two modern wings with 48 very comfortable well furnished rooms with outdoor balconies. There are several other buildings on the site. Parking was convenient in a lot or garage within short walking distance. Breakfast offerings were quite adequate and varied and offered in an open plan mezzanine. The only shortcoming here was that the breakfast area lacked adequate table space; several guests had to stand up while eating. This is a good deal at a modest price.

We stayed here for a swim meet. The grounds are very pretty and the rooms were comfortable. Cost was only $109 per night as we had a group rate. Breakfast was adequate with continental and Starbucks coffee and endless drinks and it went from 6:30 until 11:00. Walking distance to restaurants. Overall a lovely stay!

A great find tucked away in the woods in northern Baltimore. As its name indicates, it's primarily a conference center but serves as hotel for individual guests. We attended an event in the neighborhood, so the location was perfect. We were very pleased by the comfort of the room and the park-like setting. A bonus is the simple, but ample, self-serve breakfast. And you can't beat the price.

Although this place is near Highway 83, it's on a quiet, park-like campus of Johns Hopkins that was having a relaxing effect on all the guests I saw. The Aramark staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, including asking if we'd like an upgrade to a room with two queen beds - my original intent, but unavailable the day I booked. Our room was very pleasant and very clean and well appointed. Well lighted, nice balcony overlooking a splashing fountain, most perfect TV picture I've ever seen. The beds are absolutely wonderful. There are clusters of chairs and tables along the hallways on each floor that are perfect for small group conversations. Parking is easy and free. A shuttle's available to take you down the hill to half a dozen restaurants and a light rail station. A short walk over the highway bridge, and you're at Whole Foods. Drive a couple of miles, and you have access to Donna's Cross Keys for a pleasant dinner and Miss Shirley's Cafe for really wonderful breakfast and brunch. This would be a great place to have a small conference, reunion, or wedding.

The Mt. Washington Conference Center is out of the way - at night, with GPS it was a challenge to find. The location is beautiful and quiet - on a wooded hill, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but convenient to get on the expressway. Not a lot of rooms, another aspect of a peaceful, restful stay. The room was nice - not elegant but serviceable. There is a sign that the hotel is working to upgrade its guest rooms, which they could use. My shower whistled the whole time the water was on. Still better accommodations than you would expect for the price. The complimentary breakfast was adequate - nothing hot, but lots of fruit, cereal, granola bars and pastries. A enclave of quirky restaurants is at the bottom of the hill, within walking distance. On the whole a good choice for a different hotel experience than the standard chain.

We booked here for my 40th Hopkins Reunion. Our room was renovated which may have rectified some of the prior complaints. Beds were very comfortable, the setting is gorgeous. You are minutes away from the Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) at Northern Parkway for easy access to the City if you have a car. The room was large and overlooked the Courtyard. The breakfast was just adequate; juice, coffee, danish, cereal, fruit). The staff was courteous. HVAC was extrermely quiet.I found it to be better and less expensive than nearby-hotels I used in the past. I would stay here again when visiting the Charm City.
