“Bertha's, Never Disappoints”

We had mussels, of course. Great! The waitress was very nice and made a perfect recommendation of mussels with olive oil and anchovies. We have been here many times and will continue to come back.

“Best seafood restaurant in Baltimore!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

That's what people who live there kept telling us so we decided to give it a try - and they are right! Everything we ate was perfect. The mussels are amazing - if you don't try them then you really haven't visited Baltimore.

“Don't bother.. not up to the hype”
Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

Big bowl of mussels came but the sauce was bland at best. Cold stale bread... so much so I found myself looking for mold.
Served with nothing else. Most include potato or something for that price.
Would not recommend.

“Nice place for lunch”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Went to Bertha's Muscles today on the way back from Parkton Maryland. We got there around 2:00 and were seated immediately. The place was cool which considering how nasty it is out there today was a welcomed relief. Pleasant staff, we served quickly with a smile. I had oyster stew to start, good though a bit over priced. The muscles were done just right with a nice serving size. A bit pricey but this iconic Fells Point eatery is consistent and never fails to please.

“So dissapointed!”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

After reading review after wonderful review, we made it to Bertha's. I was soooo disappointed...although we got seated pretty quickly, we were all the way on the top floor, (the attic?) it was pretty cool, i liked the way it was set up with the old tables and chairs, if all the seating were removed it would look like a dance studio. That's not the problem tho, our food took forever, our entire meal was about 2 hours and we only had 1 drink each, 1 app. and 2 entrees, we were not asked if we wanted another drink. We got an order of muscles to share (garlic butter), they were dry, and there was no sauce to speak of, i don't really understand why they would have different sauces on the menu if the muscles come out bone dry, does that mean they just steam the muscles in a pot above the garlic n butter? Ok, enough about that, onto the main courses, hubby had the stuffed shrimp, he like it, i had the swordfish special and it was ridiculously small with the most pathetic serving of white rice ive ever seen! on the up side the pineapple/jalapeno salsa that covered it was pretty good. Look, i know restaurants have there "off" nights from time to time, this was pretty bad, i would never go back here again! Not to mention that we walked a good 20 min. from our hotel at inner harbor to get here! Btw we got bumper stickers with our check "Eat Bertha's Muscles", needles to say me and my husband had about 101 uses for the stickers but none of them required us to peal just STICK!! Btw, im not a food snob, i know a good meal when i taste it and sit down to it, this was not even close! Please believe me when i tell you, i WANTED to love this place!
