“Beautiful Historic Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2011

The Brexton is a very nice remodeled historic hotel in downtown Baltimore. The rooms are very unique and clean. They offer everything you would want such as internet and a nice flat screen TV. I stayed here while taking the bar exam and it was really quiet and the staff was accommodating. It was also nice to have a coffee maker with free coffee in the room. Would recommend to anyone.

A little way out of downtown, but close to the Walters Museum and Peabody library. Curious tower-like triangular exterior, but large rooms spread over three floors. Quiet and comfortable, with very friendly reception staff and free parking outside hotel. Wifi access is not complementary, and whilst we were there was of appalling quality, requiring about 45 minutes of phone calls over a dozen occasions. Hotel fittings feel slightly on the cheap (dodgy wall fittings and broken drawers) - but completely fine and absolutely understandable at the price. Breakfast so-so.

This all sounds more negative than I meant it to - overall this was a great place to stay, and we'd definitely chose it again over the more formulaic looking chains downtown.

We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, bedding was nice, comfortable-modern decor, great light from the tall windows and it came with a nice breakfast. The hotel is located in a great part of town, walking distance to great restaurants along Charles St. in Mt. Vernon and the monument. Did I mention the service was excellent? Efficient and amenable.

Whatever Hotel Brexton lacks in curb appeal, it makes up in the warm and considerate check-in staff. We checked in very late on Friday night (after 11pm I think) and the front desk staff set us up immediately with a smile. Our room was beautifully appointed and had extremely high ceilings (very luxurious for a NYer). The iPod dock was a nice surprise and we wound up using it every morning. We didn't take advantage of the complimentary breakfast (even though it went to 10am, we didn't make it out of bed in time) but we did pop down to the breakfast room for juice now & then. It was clean and connected to an outdoor garden patio. The one quibble about our stay was that the door to our room shook every time someone entered the stairwell to go to breakfast. So, the first morning we were there we were woken up every 5 minutes starting at 7am by the door loudly vibrating. We were staying in 3L. I did mention this to the desk staff and they immediately offered to move us. Our schedule prevented us from taking them up on that offer, but Sunday morning we noticed there was far less banging and we were able to sleep in. When we were checking out, the concierge inquired about the noise and said she'd asked the staff to be especially conscious of the door. So nice! It had made a difference. The hotel is very close to Charles St and all it's restaurants & bars. Go to the Brewer's Art for a beer and to Marie Louise for brunch! The free bus (purple line) also drops off/picks up only a couple blocks away. Use that to get to the Inner Harbor/Federal Hill.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is a very nice and clean boutique hotel with spiral staircases and good breakfast bar. It is very close to the Symphony as well as tons of dining on Charles street. We had a very positive experience.

Very friendly and helpfull staff.
The room was amazing, especially the small details (towels with decorating "knots", the pillows, the cleanliness ...)
The building was very pretty, we could see pictures of the renovation works undertook.
The dinning room was accessible at every moment of the day or the night for fruits or beverages.
