Description: When you inherit a space as magical as the historic former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad headquarters, you've got to do it justice. We kept our building's most stunning architectural features intact while updating the space with contemporary design elements and nostalgic touches, like chairs and table lamps from original B&O dining cars. Our practices are distinctly 21st century, though, from selecting the best local produce at the farmer's market to serving cutting-edge craft cocktails to maintaining a steadfast commitment to sustainable business practices. If only train passengers from the early 1900s had it so good!

But was good nonetheless. As was the deviled trio, the tartar, and the asparagas salad. We ate at the bar, was served by a most pleasant young lady named Anna. Our meal was good enough that we returned for breakfast the next morning. Fresh squeezed orange juice and eggs benedict on a really good crab cake was a great start to wandering around the harbor-

“Surprisingly Good”

A two storied restaurant with a chill and sophisticated ambiance. Food was delicious, especially the pork belly. The waiting staff were friendly and accomodating.

Great drinks, but we tried to eat there twice and both times they were closing - it was only 9PM!

“Culinary delight but check your credit card statement.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2012 via mobile

The B&O is one of the top Baltimore places if you are seeking a culinary experience. I recommend you eat at the bar and enjoy the ambience created by the experienced bartenders and the trendy crowd.
On a sad note, my credit cards have been charged more than what I signed for. This has happened to me at least twice and someone is hiving off the extra tips that I have not signed for. I called twice to complain about the practice and was never offered an apology or a refund. However Amex did refund me. It's not the amount that is in question but the principle. How sad.

“The B & O - good food, great staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2012

The B&O is really one of the best values in Baltimore. While a lavish dinner with cocktails and wine and be pricey--and where would such a dinner NOT be pricey?--it's easy to have an affordable meal at a decent price.

The B&O is attached to the Monaco Hotel, a boutique establishment run by the Kimpton Group that occupies the former HQ of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, a Beaux-Art beauty of limestone, brass and stained-glass. Breakfasts and brunches therefore must serve the hotels needs as well as that of the general public.

The B&O is on its second chef since opening in 2009, and the quality and consistency as well as the inventiveness of the menu is a testament to good management. An effort to be both creative and original, both popular and experimental, leads to mostly great results.

My most recent meal there was a family dinner before the theater. Prior to that, it was an early supper where a pal and I enjoyed quite the repast at 4:30 in the afternoon by choosing items from the bar/appetizers menu. I like the B&O for lunch when I am in town and frequently dine alone; solitary dining there is also a pleasure. I've also enjoyed the brunch menu.

The location of the restaurant is excellent, just a pleasant walk from the Inner Harbor one way, a pleasant walk from the Walters Art Museum the other. Oh, and the valet parking is economical and helpful when arriving for a quick meal at busy times.
