“Classic building turned into hotel”
Reviewed June 16, 2011

A beautiful office building converted into a beautiful hotel. Our stay here was pleasant except for an issue with the A/C which was not working properly. The front desk gave us a credit. The only problem is that Baltimore has just not made a great comeback. We rested on a bench in the Inner Harbor with a bunch of homeless people. We felt safe enough but not what we were expecting.

Our experience was exceptional! We brought our two very large Rottweilers with us and it was one of the best traveling experices we have ever had. The staff is totally accommodating and our rotties were pampered from start to finish! I had never stayed in a Kimpton hotel... But will seek them out after staying here! Loved it!

We came here for valentines day and it was amazing from start to finish. The bellman took us from our car to check in then went up to our room got us ice, showed us how everything worked and deposited our bags. After a half hour of arrival the front desk called to insure our satisfaction, now that's service. The room was decorated in a travel motif to go along with the fact that the hotel is an old train station. The bathrooms 2 person jacuzzi was very large. The evening wine reception was very nice. Even though it was Valentines weekend check out and valet were smooth and speedy. We will be going here again.

We went on memorial day weekend as a family and enjoyed our stay. Great service and huge room. Location was ideal to walk to waterfront or Mount Vernon area. Nice restaurant for Breakfast and dinner- Cool vibe and good food. The free cocktail hour in lobby was wonderful way to rest our tired legs while our son played Wii with 2 other guests. Real family hotel but without compromising the boutique feel. We would go again.

We stayed in Baltimore for the Memorial Day weekend. We could only get the Hotel Monaco for Friday night. The location is great, the staff is very friendly in the hotel, and the amenities are good. The turn down service was a welcomed surprise and so was the $10 credit for being a kimpton member.

We did not use the valet service. We went up on street past the hotel to Fayette street and parked in a self-park underground lot that was roughly $13. The Happy Hour in the lobby from 5-6 was great. It was a nice way to unwind after a long day of travel.

I will suggest if you book early, check your rate before arriving. I was able to find a lower rate the day before we checked in and changed it online to the lower price.

The restaurant that is attached is great for drinks in the evening, but the morning staff was very disorganized and we ended up leaving before having breakfast.

As with most Kimpton hotels- truly worth the money for the little amenities that they provide.

Thank you for taking the time and sharing your experience. Memorial Day weekend turned out to be a great success and is just a snapshot of the upcoming summer season. We have a super staff and you can’t beat our restaurant experience. We are now kicking off our summer “Live like a Local” campaign and would love to have you back and experience the fireworks of July 4th.

Stayed at the Monaco for a conference at the convention center and a couple extra days to see Baltimore. Really great service by all the staff. Pet goldfish to keep me company in a lovely room on the top floor was a great touch. The stylish room was very comfortable and kept perfectly clean during my 8 days there late checkout on the last day was easy to arrange. Entire hotel was beautifully decorated and happy hour wine tastings were fabulous. Would stay again anytime.

Thehotel is beautiful, but unfortunately, that doesn't fix it's location. Baltimore is still a bit of a dump, and thus, the hotel felt mostly deserted. In retrospect, it is also too expensive for being where it is. And finally, the lack of clientele seems to affect the staff's ability to properly guide the few existing guests on how to navigate the city. We asked for help on the simple matter of how to order pizza delivery, and were given a place to call that never even delivered our food! And the night room-service menu is too scant and not really appealing-so we went to bed hungry. Really-if I'm paying 250 a night for a hotel, I expect better. Note to guests- if you stay here, do NOT order from Massey's restaurant if you care about getting your food.
