Owner description: Be prepared for the unusual and imaginative at this museum housing works by non-mainstream artists, including the "whirligig", a 55-foot wind-powered sculpture, a 10-foot model of the Lusitania made entirely out of match sticks and a mobile that spans three floors.

For an unusual art experience that will be appreciated by all , this is the place to visit. Highly talented artists expressing their
individual points of view. Could spend hours there and did. Do not miss this museum!

Stopped by the gallery on a family outing in the city. Coming from DC, and other museums where the art is free to view, it was quite comparatively expensive. As an artist and art teacher, there were some very great works but also some that were just out there. If you are a lover of art and strange, drop the cash and visit. My girlfriend, who is not at all an art person was not nearly as impressed. My parents would have hated it.

This is the best museum I have been to that is solely dedicated to unschooled art, particularly acknowledging the creative makings and voices of historically institutionalized, disenfranchised, and oppressed individuals. And, the shop is AWESOME.

We really enjoyed this museum, which is unlike any other that we have visited anywhere in the world. Every piece is unusual in some way, which is not surprising given the fact that many of the artists had no formal training. Some of the exhibits made me shake my head and wonder "what were they thinking?", but they all are attempting to push the envelope in some way and stimulate thoughts and ideas that would not have emerged otherwise. I particularly enjoyed the examples and the movie about Baltimore's history of painting screen windows and doors. If you are like us, you will find yourself talking about this for days afterwards.

I love this museum! They have constantly rotating exhibits, and they try to get stuff that is unique and out of the box. There are opportunities to be interactive with some of the exhibits, which can be good for kids. They also do a good job of educating you about the artists and the pieces. The parking sucks, but otherwise, this place is perfect. Make a point to go when you are in town.
