The hostel has a good location with easy access to public transportation for the airport and around the city and if you like walking you can get to most places by foot. The staff work successfully to keep this old building clean and polished. There are a few creaking doors but also a degree of charm you won't find in modern places. Would certainly stay here again.

This hostel is in an old mansion that is being upgraded and refurbished. It just had sprinklers put in, and it's working to expand up into more rooms. The staff are friendly and love the hostel. They no where to go, and they have some discounts worked out with local places for guests.

I stayed at this hostel the night before I ran a half marathon that started in the Inner Harbor. As a woman traveling by myself I never felt unsafe staying at this hostel or walking around the area. The staff was incredibly friendly, parking was convenient and it was clean and well maintained. It was nice to have access to a full kitchen too. Considering it would have cost > $150 + parking costs to stay at a nearby hotel (and not have a kitchen) I'm surprised I was the only runner staying at the hostel.

Facilities and staff-wise, this hostel is about average. The major gripe is that the place isn't built or renovated as a hostel: not enough bathrooms or showers, plus, they're hard to find. The doors all slam, and the electronic locks don't really work.

The place is too far away from anything to be really walkable, especially since it is bordered by neighborhoods that didn't look very safe.

Shell out a couple extra quid and stay somewhere nice if you can.

This hostel has a great location and a great staff. After than that the problems begin. It is funny that there are lots of signs about using water in a wise manner and things like that when they have so many problems concerning it. All the taps in this place are leaking as are the toilet flushes (when they work, yeap, some of them don't work so you can expect to find lots of surprises when you go to the restroom if you know what i mean). The common bathrooms are disgusting and not clean at all. In one of them half of the ceiling is missing and you can see old underwear that people throw up there, need to say more? Although the dorms look clean they are not. The middle is clean and ok, but when you go to sleep you can see that the space between the bed and the wall is full of dirty. Price is good for the location, but somethings need improvement in this place.

I stayed there a week for a conference.
The location is excellent- close to a lot of things and the bus. The area feels relatively safe at night and was 5$ by taxi from some of the pubs we went to.
I was given clean sheets and a nice towel. There were 8 beds in my dorm, and a washroom. There were more washrooms in the hall. But someitmes one ran out of paper or soap. And at such times, the place felt a little crowded.

The kitchen downstairs was fine and spacious. There were pancakes that you could make, and tea coffee all day. There was a huge fridge and you could bring your own stuff. The common areas and living room were excellent. They had some shampoos, soaps and shower gels for free in one corner. There was a laundry in the basement, and an iron- very useful for my conference clothes.

THere were often school groups, but it was not a party place and people were generally quiet and respectful.

What else? It was not the BEST hostel I have stayed at, but it was quite a good hostel with very pleasant staff. I would stay there again gladly.

Stayed there with a friend for a weekend getaway. Good deal if you don't plan on being in your room for very long. It is a different experience if you have never stayed in a hostel before, which we had not. Close to the free public bus that will take you to Penn Station, inner harbor area, and the Federal Hill area. Down side - if you come in past 11pm you have to be very quiet which is hard to do.
