This is a niec smaller sized zoo in the middle of the city. We went during Zoo Boo and they had lots of nice Halloween decorations and events for the kids. Even the animals had pumpkin treats in the exhibits. The children's zoo and barnyard were great for younger children to explore. The rest of the exhibits are okay although we really enjoyed feeding the giraffe . Can easily see everything in a few hours. The food court area was a nice surprise as the food was reasonably priced and pretty tasty.

This zoo will really give you an idea of what zoo's used to be like 50 years ago----some of the enclosures are original

This was small enough to take kids, and very cute. It's not too much walking. They had some nice displays for kids, and the animals were out showing off their stuff for the most part.

Although not in the same class as the Bronx or National zoos the Maryland (used to be Baltimore) zoo has it's moments. There is a fairly extensive children's zoo and barnyard. The major exhibit are the African animals. Nice chimpanzee enclosure. The elephants also had a nice spot. The other highlight were the polar bears although they didn't look all that happy in the warm weather. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the walking but the exhibits all seemed a bit flat. Probably best for kids.

The Maryland zoo isn't one of the fanciest zoos and not one of the largest but worth a visit. Very nice grounds. Watched a keeper feed the river otters which was fun. They have a pretty good variety of animals and the zoo is in a very nice park area. Many of the larger exhibits are nicely kept but you can tell this zoo is not on a scale with some of the larger zoos I've been to, like the Cincinnati zoo. Some of the zoo is quite old but nicely kept. The polar bear exhibit is interesting where you can go on a bus above the bears to see them better. Good place for kids have a nice childrens zoo and above all the walking is not as bad as many zoos are.
